the gear mesh is wrong i had the same problem and after i set it right it works awsome.i use a plastic bag and put it in between the gears and push it tight to gether.i have been running the same one for 1 year and no problems i run a mamba with a 12/55 gearing and it holds up fine.

What motor are you running?

How you gear depends on your motor, track size and configuration amongst other factors as well.

If the mesh is good and there is nothing else wrong with the car there is no way to strip a spur gear.

Maybe try a DP gear cover from thetoyz.com It will help protect your spur and pinion from small rocks and dirt which could work their way into the gears. Also, take off the spur gear cover on the bottom of the chassis to ensure that there is no dirt or small rocks stuck in there.

how are you running your 18r??? If you are jumping with it and landing under power you can strip spur gears as well.

the pinion must be tightened parallel to the spur (motor inline w the driveshaft)

Now if your pinion is hacked....it will strip spurs as fast as you replace them.

Next time you replace your spur install a new pinion as well.
