Ezrun brussless setup?

i was wondering if a 50 dollar ezrun motor and speed control could be any good. has any one heard any thing about these? thanks for your help

You get what you pay for.

I have both an EZRun 18amp and a Sidewinder Micro esc, and a Castle 5400kv and noname (bought from Hobbycity) 6200kv bl motor.

I like the EZRun esc better than the Sidewinder in all respects except for very slow speeds it seems to cog more than the Sidewinder which rarely does. The EZrun is more programmable, plus I have the programming card which is extremely easy/quick to use, just plug it in and go through the options.

The Castle motor is lightyears ahead of the noname though. It runs cool, smooth, etc while the Hobbycity motor runs extremely hot even with no load. I had to set the timing down to 0degrees and gear down to 12/60 to make it run cool enough to survive while i run the Castle at 15degrees and 15/60 and have no heat issues at all and it's faster/quicker.

I'm currently running the EZRun esc with the Castle motor with the others being my backups.

I took the Hobbycity motor apart to see if there was a problem inside and the windings are very wavy/inconsistent, just seems like they jammed as much wire in as they could without worrying about it being efficient. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4213

If your having a problem with low speed cogging. Try dropping a gear size and advancing the timing to make up the top end speed. Like all thing just keep watch on your motor temp until you get it tweaked.

If you get what you pay for. I got a lot for money in the exchange rate. Because this ESC works very well.

I just received mine today. I got the 18amp ESC and 5200kv motor. The appearance is good, the packaging was nice, came with zipties, shrink wrap, and double sided tape. I need to get a few small parts before I can test it thoroughly. Hooked it up and played with the programming card though and I like it. Looks like its built pretty well. I dont see anything that looks like it will fall off or come loose. So far Im happy for $54 and no shipping charge.

im thinking about gettin one pretty soon , could some one do some high power speed passes on it to see how it holds up.

I got my truck rigged up enough to get a run in while Im waiting for my parts. I got the 5200kv and the speed was as expected. Pretty close to the stock motor in the RC18T, with a little better run time. I ran a really old 1100 nimh pack and got 15 min easy, with pretty much all wide open running. I stopped 8-10 min into the run and put the timing all the way up. Temps never got over 125F with the 13 tooth pinion. So far I am very impressed. Once I get my parts in I will be at the track with the Mambas and get a better idea. Unless it just stops working really soon I would definitely recommend this system to anyone on a budget like me. I have run several brushed combos and a few Sidewinder and Micro Pro combos, this one did not disappoint.

By the way, low speed driveability is excellent. Cogging was almost non-existent.

i have a 35a ezrun esc and i love it..
it powers my littlehyperion motor which is great but seems a little slow..

I am only on my third run with this thing but I really like it so far. I jumped to a 15/60 gearing and it acted like my mamba setup. Accelerated faster, better top end speed, ran cooler, and ran just as long. I only have one concern. I am waiting for my Lipos to get here and I wanted to see how the voltage cutoff would work. I hooked up a 4 cell Nimh pack, and set the cutoff to 3.4/cell. It seemed to run ok on the carpet in my house. Shouldnt it have not run?
