Default Jacob's RC18T Spec Class Carpet Racer

This is my sons RC18T spec class oval carpet racer. In this spec class at the local track, any 1/18th scale can run as long as the suspension is fully operational (no using turnbuckles to eliminate the shocks), 6 cell battery packs are used, and you must use a stock AE 370 motor. This makes for some pretty tight racing that comes down to suspension tuning and drivers skill. If you have the opportunity to race on a carpet oval, you’ve got to try it out. It is much more fun and intense that you would expect.

AE Steel Turnbuckle Set
AE Mounted Foam Tires
AE Threaded Shocks (Pic shows inverted for lower CG but have since flipped right side up)
80 Weight AE Shock Oil (Rear)
40 Weight AE Shock Oil (Front)
AE Gold Springs
MIP Cvd’s
MIP SuperDiffs
Integy Aluminum Steering Bell Crank
Integy Rear Hub Carriers
Integy Front C-Hub Castor Blocks
Integy Steering Knuckles
Integy Aluminum Motor Heat Sink
AE Nylon 60T Spur Gear
14T Titanium Pinion
Pro-Line Crowd Pleazer 2.0 Body
RPM Front Bumper
Hitec HS-56HB Servo (not installed in the pics)

Default Chris's RC18T Spec Class Carpet Racer

This is the second time that I have come across a deal that I could not pass up on a RC18T. I was supposed to buy an almost new RC18T from my boss this past week for $125.00. Well after being home sick for the second half of the week, I figured that I was going to have to wait ‘til next week sometime. So with a heavy heart and one truck less than I wanted, the son and I headed to the LHS for Saturday carpet oval races. And to make the day that much worse, “she who must be obeyed” dictated that we were not to stay for the off road course or head over to for the dirt ovals because we had a BBQ to attend.

So as we were packing the pit box up to make that return trip home, who shows up? Yup, that’s right my boss. I kind of expected to hear something about calling in sick during the week and racing on the weekend. But instead he tells me of another offer that he has for me. Also for $125.00 he has his personal race RC18T loaded up and with extra parts. Now mind you that this is a competitive truck at our local track. Here is a list of the mods that he has applied…

1. Threaded aluminum AE shocks
2. Integy bell crank
3. MIP CVD’s
4. MIP Superdiff (1installed, 1 NIB)
5. AE Titanium turnbuckles
6. AE Aluminum heat sink motor mount
7. Novak XXL rx
8. Novak XRS speed control
9. Hitec HS-56HB servo
10. RPM front bumper
11. 2 Batteries (stock 1100’s)
12. AE mounted foam tires
13. AE mounted “pin” tires (new)
14. Deans already connected
15. Futaba T2PH transmitter

So of course I bought it and now I’ve got mine and we can stop piggy backing off of my sons. I almost forgot to mention, when my motor fried at the track today. The owner just tossed one in to me for free. It had only been run for two heats last week. Yeah, it was a good day. I can hardly wait for next Saturday.

Well that's half of the track anyway. There are full pics of it on other threads. I race mostly M18, but picked up an 18R yesterday. I'm ready to start working with this car. I like it!

I wonder if ae will ever come out with a micro version of the TC3 ever. M18 needs more competition than the RS4
