Recently purchased Mini-z Awd MA-020S after years of dying to try out Mini-z. Its a blast to zip indoors in my tiny apartment.

Now ive been racing 1/10 touring for 10years and are already very used to racing with my trusty old Sanwa M11.

Recently i have converted my FM Sanwa M11 to the FrSky 2.4Ghz hack and now would like to modify my Mini-Z to run with it.

Anyone could shed some light on how to achieve this?

Is there a way to hack the original board to accept a micro FrSky receiver or would i need to replace all the stock electronics on the Mini-Z?

Thanks in advance.

There are many but Kenonhobby.com is where I get almost all my stuff. Awesome tech support as well on PN Racing products through them.

From what I have read, the new Sports series Mini-Z operate on the FlySky AFHDS protocol. If you are able to obtain a FS-TM002 module and connect it to your M11, it should work.

Conversion of the Mini-Z electronics might be possible, but will be extremely difficult to do cleanly so your far better option is to hack a FlySky module into your radio.

I was using a Spektrum radio already with my 1/10 scale stuff. The PN Racing DSM2 board is awesome stock board replacement. Not sure what other radio's will work with it but by far the coolest thing I have purchased. Complete adjustability of settings with the bluetooth adapter is just crazy for such a small car.

I went and bought another MR03sport to give it another try. First day at the track and the car/transmitter lost connection at about 10 feet. Did the factory reset and rebound...same problem. Tried it off the track (possible static electricity interference) and it continued to lose its bind.

I did some Internet research and tried the FlySky transmitter. It worked but only has 30 foot range (roughly) which is fine at the track I run. For $40 its a great upgrade with 10 model memory and plenty of adjustments.

For those with sports and X-speed or PN 70t motors, did you have to get a new motor mount, or did it fit in the stock one?

Also, anybody using an aftermarket ball diff? I'm trying to figure out which ones will work. I have a 98mm MM chassis, I believe.

PN 70 turn is not compatible with the sport board; you run the risk of blowing out the board.

I thought it was OK as long as it's more than 50 turns? Will upgraded FETs fix it?

What about the X-speed motor, any issue with using that on the stock sports board?

Just to be sure I did check the Kenon Hobby site which did confirm the 70 turn motor is not compatible with the MR03 Sport board. I have heard upgrading the FETS will solve the problem but I do not have first hand knowledge. Regarding the X-Speed motor; the MR03 Sport packaging does list it as a compatible part. I have not tried it on one of my cars but it does sound like something I would like to pursue.
