Are you referring to the screws the arrows are pointing to in this image?

Yes, those are the ones. For some reason my car was missing the servo motor hold down; I would like to verify where I can find those screws before I buy more parts for the chassis. Thanks

Slipstream 94, I measured one of my MR03's front cover screws, which per the diagram is a MZ409 and the same screw, and it's a 2mm x 6mm coarse thread panhead screw, but it could be a countersunk head as both are listed as the same MZ409. I usually get my mini z screws from Kenon, but shipping can be high for small orders. Hope this helps.

I stripped out one of the screws holes that holds the front body mount/spring plate, and I was wondering if any of yall have had this problem and what you did to remedy this? I know I can epoxy the screw in, but then I'll have to remove the top arms to change springs. So a larger diameter screw, 2mm heilcoil?
Thanks, Drew

Nice looking, except they didn’t factor in the MiniZ wheels are approximately 1:27 scale of an 18” wheel, not 21”

Thank you for the info, since it's coarse thread I assume that should be the same thread as the chassis screws. I actually recently tested using longer screws (2mm machine thread) and plain nuts (for clearance) on my project car for those bottom screws. If you use the narrow front this might be viable. Unfortunately the nuts sit on the outer front spring pocket for the wide front. Hope this helps.

Has anyone tried the Honda HSV body on an RCP track? It looks neat but I'm curious how it performs.

Thanks Slipstream 94! I just saw last week in a pic online the exact mod you are describing, I can't remember where, and it and the helicoil is my best option until I build out a PN 2.5!

There are actually two different servo motor plates (see below) that use different screws depending on which MR-03 chassis you have. The main chassis design was changed a few years after introduction to fit the longer brushless boards while still fitting the brushed boards. The original chassis used the larger servo plate (on right in pics) and the screws went through the top cover and the servo plate into the chassis using countersunk screws. If it’s the one with the teeny tiny screws, like the redesigned chassis (on left in pics) those screws come in MZ411 with the smaller servo motor plate and the upper covers as the exploded view above says. I know Kyosho sells them separately, but couldn’t find the part number. Hope this helps!

Newer chassis on left, original chassis on right.

Great, thank you for the explanation . Now I know where to find the hardware; I checked my MR-03 just now and mine has the revised hold down. I somehow missed that detail even with the exploded view in front of me. Thanks also for the photos.

You're welcome. Decided to post pics because that exploded view is misleading. It shows the screws going through the top cover into the newer servo plate, which is NOT correct. Wonder if Kyosho has revised that graphic. EDIT: They have not corrected it in the latest manual. Here is what MZ411 comes with

Hmm. It's definitely interesting how they never updated the exploded views to reflect that running change. Interestingly, the PDF for the MR-03 Evo exploded view has a completely different diagram that correctly shows those tiny screws. I found it on the "Mini-Z Info" page. Thanks again for the photos and info.

Default Compatible Tx

Hi folks, I’m wondering if anyone can tell me what the cheapest compatible transmitter is for my MR03?

I don’t need fancy touch screens ect just something that will allow for adjustments but most importantly exponential? My RTR steering is just too twitchy around the centre of it’s movement.

cheers!

Hello, I hope you're doing well. Do you have more info on the car? If I recall correctly, the 2.4Ghz MR-03 Mini-Zs have used several different radio protocols over the years, although technically they're all 2.4Ghz. There should be a silver sticker on the top of the chassis, reading something like "FHS 2.4 Ghz Sports 2." The letter codes like AFS, FHS, FHSS etc. are the radio protocols and will help tell what will bind to your chassis.
