BRP's, even the rally cars use truck axles to be able to run BRP's (me included). They seem to be "the" tire at my track. I also sold a set of Associated's foams trued waaaay down to someone who uses them on his rally car also, they function much like the BRP's but they have a little bit too much side bite for my liking.
And honestly the pink Losi foams for the Mini T aren't bad either, I had to drop my ride height due to them being untrued, and most of the time I didn't need to use dope because they grip so much.

of course, foams are notoriously fast wearing on asphalt and why most run rubber tires outdoors and save the foams for carpet or get harder foams

BRP or Losi foams, even trued waaay down kinda ruins the whole idea of running the larger foams in addition to forcing you to whack out the wheelwells to get them under the body

I am really wanting one of these.
For $300 what all should I get?

hey guys . I'm having a problem with my son's rc18r . I just got it the other day and the speed controller was bad . So I went and replaced the speed controller with the oem controller and it ran great for about 5 min . Now it is acting up again . It will not go forward with full throttle and it will go slow with partial throttle . What do you think . Thanks

@WFO yes it gives up a smaller diameter wheel but it is also wider than the rally tires which is why I use them. I even raced my 18T with 18R foams for awhile and it drove good but it wasn't like running with BRP's. Plus I think they cushion a little better for our jumps. But if you aren't running jumps then of course get rally specific ones.
There are ways I compensate for the taller tire. I've done about anything you can do to shocks and the ride height
and if you can set your roll center properly it helps, too.

But usually ESCs are a go or no-go item, either they work or they don't -
and considering your previous problem I'd want to guess it might be traced back to the motor. It could have been bad from the beginning and torched the first ESC, hung up brush or something, and now it's giving problems again.

I totally get what you're saying if you're running it as a 18T, but I think if you had a 18R you'd immediately notice a problem with getting the larger 18T tires in the wheelwells without either jacking the body WAY up in the air or chopping up the body and hacking it up to make room (been there done that

That's why you get the Exotek 350Z and just cut the wheel wells a little larger than normal
A guy I race with had the Skyline body with BRP's, it didn't set up high like a monster truck nor did the body look hacked. Maybe he just found the perfect balance
Or just buy the DP Scorpion short-course body and solve all tire-body problems.

If you say so
I guess some guys don't mind wheelrub.
I've got a skyline body sitting here that's useless, wheelwheels cut almost to the hoodline, I can let ya have for cheap
make that free.

Have the knobs been moved on the controller? that could be inhibiting things.

I hooked one of my larger 7.2v batteries off my traxxas to the motor on the ae and it seemed to run great with the power going directly to it . Could a bad battery cause this ? This is my sons rc car and want to get it running problem free so the wife don't kill me for buying him a car that keeps breaking . Thanks for all the help .
edit
its fixed . I just put different plugs on it and now using my big 7.2v batteries from my traxxas . This damn car has never went this fast with the stock battery . Thanks
