Default Internal ratio

Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone knows the internal ratio of the RC18?

Cheers in advance.

windsor: That information is on AE's website, 2/3 down.

StuartC: It's on the same site; the internal ratio is 2.5:1.

you're joking right?
they don't make a pinion small enough, nor will you ever get those little tires to hook up with that monster mill

I had mine geared 14/55 with a 6800kv Mamba. I would suggest 12/55 and put a heat sink on the motor.

Just wondering what people think of the rc18t compared to the xray m18t pro? I am looking at getting one and have been doing a bit of research. I am leaning towards an rc18t because the parts are more available and half the price compared to the xray.
only issue i can see with the rc18t is the steering slop but there are many fixes for that.
Is there issues with the xray?

Does one drive better than the other or is it like comparing apples for apples?

the truck will be used for racing on an indoor carpet track!

What parts are needed to turn a RC18T to a RC18R?

1. Body
2. Front shock tower
3. Rear shock tower
4. Body posts

did I miss anything?

You will also need:
suspension arms, camber and steering links, drive shafts (you will need dogbones and axles-or better yet mip cvds) , wheels/tires, and another pair of short shocks and springs (it uses short shocks all around). I think that's it.

IMO, the M18T Pro is better out of the box but with the TEK18X conversion and some other mods, the RC18T can't be beat for performance and durability.

Just won an RC18T on Ebay. It's my 1st R/C car after quitting the hobby for 4 years. It appears to have a few mods on it already like GPM shocks, Integy motor heatsink, FT dogbones, and Venom Fireball motor.

Anyways, it's sure to run the way it is now but there's a few things I want to do before I actually give it a go.
-rebuild all the shocks
-take apart the drivetrain to inspect it and rebuild whatever may be needed
-clean up the electronics placement and wiring as well as clean up foam tape remains

Just by looking at it, the only thing I can spot that looks iffy is the RR corner of the suspension. It's hanging lower the the LR and gets stuck when fully compressed.
Can't do anything with the car now since I no longer have a charger or even tools. I'll bring it to the LHS tomorrow since I can tinker with it there.

I don't plan on any organized racing but I do plan on shaming my co-workers and their HPI Micros.

Use heatsink compound on that motor heatsink.

I have that same Integy motor heatsink and the compound greatly increases the contact surface area for better cooling.

I think I might go all out on this little mother effer! I was planning on getting a nitro MT to play around with but since I'm on a limited budget and 'disposable income' is something I don't believe in I think I just might focus on my 18T since damn near everything under the sun is available for it. LOL, I'm not too worried about heatsink compound on this motor since a Mamba brushless system is being considered!

We'll see though.

I've been so pleased with my 18R lately that I thought I'd show it off.
I've had it for about a year and didn't upgrade anything for a long while. A month or two ago I played with a spare Mamba Max on an other wise stock car to see what would happen. I couldn't believe it made such a huge difference. Then a couple weeks later the stock motor died so I ordered a 6800 and a 4100. I killed the 6800 on accident. Luckily I had the back-up but it made me forget just how fast the 6800 is. Now it's back, and I have a 3S lipo now to accompany the 2S I already had. I also plan on racing on Saturday so I also upgraded to an aluminum bell crank and HiTec servo, and GPM shocks are enroute. Got me some foam tires, new stock rubbers, and a freshly painted Citroen body.
I should be all set to race.
The best part is, I think my son will want to join the fun also.

I love this thing. I haven't driven my Slash in weeks.
