I've been using these receivers on my builds and have had no issues. I have 4 of them now.
If your radio is updated to the latest firmware you will have to update the firmware on the receiver.
There is a great video on how to do this on You tube. It's a little tricky at first until you get the procedure down.

I’m nearly done with my build but I need to buy pinion gears and a ESC programmer.
what is the correct pitch for the spur gear that’s comes with the kit? 64p? I’ve looked in the instructions and on the website and I don’t see a spec.
any recommendations for pinion for 3500kv GL brushless motor?

I think it really depends on what size track you're running on. I run on a track that is basically a mini 96 with 2 expansion packs.
I'm running a 10 tooth pinion on mine and it is just right. It has lots off punch off the corner and is very quick on the long straight.
It has been so good for me that I haven't tried any other pinion.
You could always just dial it back in your radio if it's too much speed.

For SuperStock class racing, the motor spec is 3500 with gearing at 10/53.
Depending on the size of the circuit, the 3500 motors tend to really come to life around 12-13t for larger ones, where smaller circuits are near perfect with the 10 used for SuperStock.
If you are planning on racing at a local track, check with them on what their rules are, and then make the decision. But most clubs in the area do run SuperStock with 3500 and the 10/53 gearing (53 is the tooth count for the white spur which comes with the car).

Hi Celt, was your Jomurema body hydro-dipped or hand painted? Looks awesome.
