I'm in Northern California and I haven't found any place that races them. One small hobby shop about an hour away was gonna try to start running them in a space behind their shop, but the space got taken over by another business I think.

Are there any go-to racing servos? Not on a budget, looking for fast and reliable.

KST or MKS servos are some of the ballsiest and baller servos you can get.

Our local hobby shop is racing the mini's on carpet off-road, they look really interesting, my issue is just working on the tiny things, 10th scale buggy fasteners are tiny for big hands as is lol. The mini B is tempting for the low price tag. SO how durable are they?

Not very.

I've broken a lot on my Mini-B and I don't feel like I've been any harder on it that any of my 10th scale cars. Not only that but spare parts for this are infuriating to buy. You can't buy just one part. You need one turnbuckle? Too bad, you have to buy every turnbuckle for $17 - you can't even buy the rod ends by themselves. It's infuriating. You break one tiny thing and you have to spend at least $15 to buy a bunch of other parts that you don't need and will likely never break. For me half the appeal of Minis is they're cheap, but the way spares are sold for this car it's just as much to maintain a full size car. I've probably got $30 in parts I'll never need because I had to buy them to get the parts I actually needed. Shit like this is why I won't feel bad when stuff like 3D printing finally gets good enough to put people like Losi out of business.

And the most egregious part of the car is the shocks. In every other aspect of the car they put in the effort to make it match the 1/10 counterpart but when it came to the shocks they just said eff it and reused their terrible bottom cartridge shock design that can't even be bled properly. What were they thinking? They're trying to market these things as fully capable race vehicles just smaller but don't put the full effort into incorporating the improvements in shock technology that they've had in the last 20 years with their 1/10 cars.

Maybe you can tell, but I'm pretty frustrated with this car. I feel like I can't sell it because I've put so much time and money into it, but I also just don't think it's worth keeping at this point.

If you want to race at a 1/10 track, buy a 1/10 scale. These will just be a fad like they were 15 years ago. The best use case for these cars is on dedicated mini tracks. I built one in my basement and that's where I use my car 99% of the time and that's when I have the most fun with it.

Very nice setup RC10Nick. Can you talk about how this drives compared to either the stock brushed set-up, or the brushless setup? I have both, and I would never have imagined how much smoother the brushed setup was... it really makes a huge difference for precision driving (like running on a mini-track in the basement). Curious how your set-up performs (apart from the vehicle itself - just curious about your motor and ESC combo).

It's as smooth as the stock brushed setup, just faster. I planned on keeping it brushed if I wasn't able to find a sensored system because the brushed setup was fast enough on my mini track. I dial my throttle epa down to 40% with the brushless setup when I drive on my basement track which is just about the same speed as the brushed setup, maybe just a hair faster.

Do you know the part number or model for this motor?

My parts finally came in.

After waiting a month plus two days, the order I placed at Great Hobbies for the uprated spur and blinged out pressure plate, both from Hot Racing, finally arrived.

It was on its way here when Highway 1 was destroyed by the floods in the BC interior. Now it's time to finish the job and get the wheels turning.

The Turnigy Transmitter bag is the perfect fit for the stock buggy. What a nice fit. Now I gotta find another bag for my Spektrum TX.

Raced my Mini-B roller for the first time last night on a carpet off-road track... WHAT A BLAST !!!

Hobbywing EZRun esc/motor 18t combo (5200kv) / Eco Power 827 servo / CNHL 650mah battery / Proline Wedges (f) & Prisms (r) / 41g weight in the front & 10g weight in the rear / Stiff front springs (gold) / Shock oil 35f / 32.5r / stock 18t pinion

5200kv motor was smooth and I did not have to turn down the power... ok, I ordered the 12t (7800kv) just to get a feel for some crazy power... may not really help for racing LOL
and I turned the the steering down to 95% just to take the edge off.
