Default Kyosho Mini-Z "4x4" Series

I am starting a separate thread for the "4x4" line of Kyosho Mini-Z vehicles. Seems we are having too many conversations in the "Mini-Z Series" thread about different vehicles. It's time for a dedicated "4x4" series thread, here it is!

As I have mentioned in the Mini-Z catch-all thread, I am thoroughly impressed with this vehicle.
I have the Toyota 4Runner version in dark silver and black trim "Toyota 4Runner (Hilux Surf) " is what Kyosho calls it.

Here is a URL to Kyosho's product page for this line of Mini Z's:

Here are a few photos of my Kyosho 4Runner. I purchased the optional light kit. The light kit allows you to control the lights via the controller, you can adjust the blink/strobe rate of the front headlights. The rear tail lights are functional and become brighter when you apply the brakes via the controller. Kyosho did a great job w/ the light kit and it was only about $15 shipped.

This weekend while coming home from a trip to Lake Tahoe, CA I spotted this awesome looking 1:1 4Runner. I snapped a quick photo ...thinking I may have to purchase the optional Kyosho unpainted body set and paint a body up like it.

I saw a few after market parts for this 4x4 by a company called "Xtra Speed"
Looks like they have some wheel weights, axle protectors and improved chassis links.

Yes, you do!
FYI, I am not a scaler off road guy at all, but have to say this thing has been a blast. I've been making all kinds of obstacle courses in the house w/ the kids ...we've made it into a game to see who can get through a course in the quickest time. Because they are so small you don't need much room for a track either. We've been using books, jenga blocks, and dominos to create off road + obstacle courses in the family room.

Anyone have both the Mini-z 4x4 and the Mini-z Overland series? I'd be curious to see some comparison pictures between the two which I seem unable to find online. Looking at some figures there seems to be some compatibility in terms of wheelbase. According to Kyosho the 4x4 ranges from 110-120mm. The Overland from 95-110mm. I know the mounting systems are different between the two but would be interesting to see how much overlap there could be.

I always assumed the Overland series was much smaller, but I too am curious.
I am waiting for the oil filled shocks for my 4x4 4Runner ...the stock ones are good, but would love to try some oil filled.

They are available online for about $199,
if you order from AMain you can use a coupon for about $20-ish off that price and free shipping.
they seem to be back in stock right now, but they also sell out fast.

Also stumbled upon these Chinese bodies (unknown brand) of the D90 and G-wagen. Could be the same as the Team Raffee, especially the D90.
