Full send! It really is just about taking the shortest line around the layout as quick as possible. My quickest overall runs come on the second or third run on a set of batteries, so that is what limits my top speed.

Impressive I figured as much. My cars handle well but still need some mid throttle/let off and roll around most of the infield... Leaving my cars the way they were setup for full size RCP race tracks I'm guessing to get that extra 2-3 tenths I'd need to commit a more specialized setup just for the mini-96 layouts...
For anything 50T/3500 and above the setups need changes from 30cm to 50cm tiles. |

Blazing fast indeed! only have 1 run in per car so far and they're slow... I also tend to have more trouble CCW... Box Stock are you tuned to be basically full throttle 99% of the run or do you adjust max throttle down just a bit so you can go full throttle? I'd estimate by submission i'll be lucky to get within 10 seconds of your current time =P
I learned A LOT watching PoorBoys videos of him running the Mini96! You can see, and for me the biggest help, hear how he throttles as he drives, as well as watch his lines. Worth the watch!!! Your driving line makes a huge difference in your times too! I didn't realize how much, till I started using the "Path Tool" on Z Round's track designer. It gives you the path length in Meters, and there can be a 2-4 meter difference in total depending on you line! I shaved off quite a bit of time learning to run off the outside wall constantly! Anyway, Hope yall are having fun turning some laps! I'm having a blast, but get frustrated with myself as my brain is still trying to drive CW! I'll run 10-15 good laps, stop concentrating as hard, then have a few bad laps trying to refocus! Have a Great Weekend! Drew |
Just wanted to let you know ck out. Playrc.app
you can configure 30and50 cm track also you can drive on the track you design |
How's everyone's times going so far this month?
My lap times are within a few tenths of CW, but my overall times are not so great with mistakes still plaguing me going CCW! I'm also still working on my Narrow Chassis with the Nexx Racing 90mm MM Pod and I added a Nexx Dual Spring Oil Shock to help control the rear end chatter on power and well as the washing out at high speed corners. It has helped, but I'm still working on it with an MX5 body. The Yaris body won't stay off it's lid in every corner, so It's on the back burner for now, though it looks SOO GOOD running on the track! Hope All are safe and well in this intense spring weather! |

SMOKIN' fast times PoorBoy!!! I can't wait to see how you fair with the MRX Master chassis!
I finally got my Narrow chassis running up to speed without excessive TR! I went to a set of very worn KSK 40* LH with a 22.4mm height. At that height TR is almost gone, with KS-M Soft LH at 22.8mm I TR at the end of the straight, and the last 180* before the straight. With New KS-M Softs I TR in every corner, @ 23.4mm IIRC. The Nexx Racing Dual Spring Oil Top Shock has also removed 99% of the rear end chatter and washout under throttle. Still don't know if I like it any better than the PN Dual Top Spring, but everywhere I order from had the PN out of stock when I ordered it. The main spring is easier to adjust, but the droop spring isn't, and the extra droop springs that came with mine are either all the same or they painted a stripe of color to differentiate between than and it came off as there are small flecks of paint in the bag they came in. Either way I went to the Yellow main spring and I believe it is the sweet spot. I also removed the top disk and spring of the damper, to help control the steering like I want. I'm still running my Pro Stock with the 787B at 102mm, and it's running well. I really want to try my GLR at 102mm!! I don't know if it will drive any better at 102 vs. 98mm, but I really like the endurance car bodies! Anyway hope yall are having fun turning some laps! |
Well, just going back through old posts here and on the facebook page, and I realized April 18/2025 was the 6 year Anniversary on the Mini96World Challenge! It was Started by LJH (Jim) in 2019, and I thank him every time I'm on the track, along with Traveler_2 and Poor_Boy who continued to run it! Traveler reposted this on facebook a few years ago and I too feel it is just as true today as when it was originally posted by Hahn L James.
"Today marks the 4 year anniversary of the Mini96 World Challenge, and the words wrote below on the 1 year anniversary are just as true now as then. I started competing in the Mini96 World Challenge in June of 2019 only a few months after it started and it got me through the Covid lockdowns when I couldn't go anywhere to race, taught me even more about these cars that I've been racing for 15 years now, and has definitely made me a better driver on the larger tracks when I get to race with others. In other words, it has been a very positive experience for me. Not suggesting there weren't challenges and frustrations at times, but I was always able to overcome them and have had some really close racing with several guys that have come along during my time here. Sadly, even though there has been a lot of growth in group membership and lots of guys buying tracks and expressing interest in competing, very few post times each month. So I'm going to leave you with Jim's plea from three years ago that I am repeating now: "If you have a track and run please post your time no matter how competitive your time is. I ask you to do this for a couple reasons, the more people that post times the more likely others will post. While you may not be sitting on the podium you will get a sense of who you are close to in speed and can gauge your performance and progress off of them. Secondly it is cool looking back, this morning I was looking at my times from a year ago and realize how far I have come.....My first postings from my GLR had a fast lap of 5s and now I am turning 4s laps......So please, if you run post your times." Hahn L James wrote: "Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the Mini96 World Challenge. A year ago today The official rules were posted as well as the fist circuit that we ran. All in all I think the M96WC is maturing well, we have had a slow but steady growth with a major uptick once the FB Group page was set up. I hope all of you are enjoying the good natured competition that the M96WC brings. I, for one, have learned a lot about these little cars and while there are times of frustration there is also a feeling of satisfaction when you change something up, or nail a good run, and you improve your time. Thanks for running, without all of you it would not be nearly as fun. I was just looking at some numbers and figured I would post a couple stats I thought were interesting: So far we have had right around 28 drivers post times in the first year. In the last year there have been roughly 170 times posted. Times have been posted in 7 different classes. Each 75 lap stint is roughly a mile in length. With all this said lets see what kind of participation numbers we can get in year two. I do want to say that it seems like there are a number of folks who have shown interest but have not posted times. If you have a track and run please post your time no matter how competitive your time is. I ask you to do this for a couple reasons, the more people that post times the more likely others will post. As for me the Challenge has made a huge improvement in my driving skills as well as my chassis tweaking knowledge! The guys here have taught me tons, and I thank you all!! So POST those times, as it's awesome to see how you have improved with time and practice! Anyway, yall have fun turning those end of month laps!!! Drew |
For just "Stock" AAA-3500kv is there restrictions on the hardbody? Are lexan windows/roofs allowed?
This is what's listed on page 1 Stock- Any 4AAA Nimh Chassis , OEM or 70T brushed motor or 3500 & Kyosho 4100kv Brushless motor, Autoscale/White body. |

Awesome good to know I can share shells with my open car.
Rough so far this month about .2 avg slower than CW and making a LOT of mistakes haha... still have a week to clean it up. I run my Green Jomu with Lexan windows on my Stock chassis most of the time, and I'm finishing my Lexan roof Jomu to run on my GLR in the Open Class. The Jomu isn't the best looking body out there, but damn it drives GREAT! And if you search online you can see some bas a$$ paint jobs laid down on them. I would LOVE to paint my Jomu's like a few that I've seen, but trying to see them on the black track is a real problem for me. Fluorescent colors make it much easier to see for me! I THINK I've come up with some good looking paint schemes, just have to feel up to the tedious tape work at this scale! If you want to check out a master at tape work and paint at this scale, check out Ikuzim's blog on Ameba. I found it on a google search for custom painted mini z's and HOLY CRAP can he cut! Anyway, sorry for ramblings off topic! just thought yall would like to see the awesome work! |
Hey Guys looking bad again for any times from me ( as usual) poor boy do you have a dog or cat?? :p Drew I personally have the upmost faith in you running the show poor boy Jim and all before have done outstanding work, follow their example Bro and things will be fine.
I’m hoping to get new glasses in the near future and hopefully be able to run some times ( finally) I also have some severe back problems so I definitely know what you go through, I can’t set up the track alone, with the summer coming I’ll be able to leave it setup in the garage, sorry for rambling Take Care Folks and smoke those tracks :spidey: |
Walt, just take care and get well soon!!! I'm getting new specks soon too, so I'll actually be able to see how bad I drive!:p It's either new glasses or longer arms, as I can't hold these tiny parts far enough away to get them in focus anymore! :blush:Also going to drop a few grand on a new recliner this week, so hopefully it will help relieve some of my back issues! Been on heating pads the last few days to get my hands working, so I can run my laps! Seems to be helping, and I have gotten most of my cars running well, and hope to have them all dialed in today.
Also, got a Ferrari Enzo body coming, it's used but in good shape. There are mixed reviews on how it drives, but I always liked the Enzo so I'm good either way! What are yall favorite NARROW class body? I really like the MX-5, but the nose is kind of weak and crack around the nose clip pocket. I love the look of the Yaris, but I can't keep mine off it's lid! I TR at every corner when I try for any speed at all. The Mazda Savanna RX-7 FC3S is what I'm thinking might be a good try, or maybe the Nissan Silvia S15. It has pretty round corners in the front if you remove the splitter. Anyway, hope everyone is well and having fun turning some laps! Drew |

It has made all my cars very edgy compared to last week. I had mounted some new Reflex 40* LH on some 20mm BBS that were working well, but with the humidity TR was a problem at every corner!! So back to the almost gone KSMs at 22.0mm. And while the TR is gone the steering midcorner is very slow compared to the Reflex 40s! My back's not happy causing my rt hand to go half numb about half way through a run, so CCW was very challenging after that. I might try for another run and repost. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...3fad997efe.png https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...e0188ba88c.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...e6c55b8c43.jpg |
