John: The low timing did not produce the max power number. What it does do is produce more power down low. If you check the lap times you can calculate that the motor is only averaging 5700 rpm. Saying that it then has a peak of 7k and a low of 4.4k that puts it in the ramge of the Fantoms first three readings easily. The rest don't really matter or in oval it seems so. If you turn the timing up it gains max rpm and power but drops off in the low end numbers. There is a sweet spot because as you drop off to much timing those low numbers do get worse.
Ron I must say I've never seen that with 25.5 or 21.5 motors. Max power and max RPM have always been at the same timing (R1 KS, TEAM POWERS, D4 ORCA, Novak). But I usually go in steps of 5 degrees. So maybe I went by that spot you found on the Track Star 17.5. I think if I went too far with the timing the power would drop off and RPM & amp draw would sky rocket but I rarely go that far. I had the KS at 70 degrees on the endbell and power and RPM were stil both climbing but my Motorlyser indicated the real timing was only 52.
