Nice day of racing Sunday. The layout was fast and challenging. Seems like the group is getting their combinations sorted out.

New Years Day race. WOW.

Checking in on the VTA Class.
How many are running?

If I'm able to get the time to get mine together you should see 2 more by the 8th. (Can't make it this weekend)

Great day of racing...
8 VTA cars, great to see!
& a mixture of wicked fast Touring Cars too!
Nothing like a tie-dyed Touring car doing Mach3 on the back strait.

Looks like the VTA is developing into a solid 25.5 motor class.

FYI,

Point 1:
Cost of lights, cost of rent, cost of water, sewer and waste disposal, cost of electricity to run pit equipment, cost of carpet, cost of membership and the club can barely keep the doors open. Non-members that want to race for free who don't understand that hobbies cost them money drives me NUTS! Face it, racing is expensive. I happy I have a track to run at and its an hour away!

Point 2:
A race ready vehicle for almost all of these classes is over $500 from the time you pick up the kit to the time it hits the floor to race, most are closer to $1000 total investment and that is before spares, extra motors and extra batteries. It still amazes me that we are willing to sink hundreds of dollars into spare parts and equipment in case we break or blow up, but its unacceptable to charge for practice and racing. Seriously again, it's just barely enough to cover their ass to keep the doors open.

Calm down Jeff - no need to be nasty.

Becoming a member will save you big money. Especially a guy like you that races every week. You spend $50 on a membership and save $5 per week on race fees - after your 10th race you are saving money. You probably race 10 times a month, so after the first month your membership is paid for and the rest of the year you are ahead $5 per race.

Also, the club will be announcing a work program in the next few weeks - which will allow racers who sign up for weekly jobs (Vacuum, Take the trash out, Clean Bathroom, etc.) an additional savings off race fees.

Everything costs more these days and the race fees have not been raised in years - more likely never. The $2 raise for the first class is not to much - what can you buy for $2.00??

I used to race there and still would. It's kinda hard since I had to take a contract job out of town, but I might be back. My house and family are still there. I still consider MARCCA my home track. I know most of the people who race there, probably you too. I don't like when people bitch about a couple bucks in an expensive hobby. Last time I raced there it was 15 for non-members and 10 for second class, then I bought the membership. If you think the club makes plenty, ask Mr. Mann or the current treasurer.
