Going by eBay prices...

Associated 12L3 w/servo - $75
Novak Atom ESC - $67 (new; or LRP Quantum)
Novak XXL Receiver - $40
Binary/Monster Stock - $32 (new)

Entire racing rig for $214, fully legal at any 1/12 track anywhere.
I spent about 100$ for a L3 w/ servo, wheels, some spare parts, etc.. and in mint condition.
$45.00 for an Atom
29$ for the Binary Pro Stock plant
and I have some spare recievers sitting around

So overall yes very cheap. what gearing is normally run as a baseline for a stock motor in a 1/12th?

What about using square rain gutters. I was looking at pictures of Halo Hobby on the general forum and it looks like they are using them. I don't know what the price difference is but at least we wouldn't have to paint them.

About 1.7 to 1.8 roll out for a monster.

I think doors open at 9 AM and racing starts at noon. You should come down. It is a blast.

The rules for 1/12th scale at MARCCA will be:

- 4 cells only
- 8 minute races
- 27T stock motors only

I have been told that these rules are widely accepted at any track

Gordon Freeman,

MARCCA has always had the philosphy that you could race what you bring. The stated rules are to try to get uniformity in the class and to give everyone an even chance. We will work something out.

It is very important for all people interested in sedan racing to attend the first couple of races. We will discuss many issues before setting up the format for the rest of the season. Our goal is to try to ensure a good competitive experience for all of our racers.

Well I think its very smart to run the ROAR spec 1/12th. There are many more people in the area who have those and can get into a stock class than people who run the outlaw 1/12th setups.

The Den is going on 8 people down there with them and my bud and I will be making that 10. Since the Den runs on Saturday I will more than likely be running both locations some weekends.

Ive read around quite a bit and I havent found much if any track that runs a brushless 1/12th class. It would be nice, but I am really dig'n getting into a new hobby for under the cost of just a brushless motor!

I don't want to make waves (regardless as to whether MARCCA "allows" stock brushless, people will grumble) and I don't think the establishment is going to change any time soon. If the majority don't want stock brushless, that's what the rule should be and I will abide by it. Rules should be inforced. I think when we started up 1/12 last year, it was stock, I used my stock brushless and then people started putting in 19T and then it went to hell from there. I don't know how you/we can migrate to brushless. I don't think you can "migrate", you just have to switch, to keep it fair.

I understand and completely agree with trying to make the classes as even and fair as possible. My philosphy is that if everybody was on the same brushless system, that would be one step closer to fair (and less work). It is also cheaper, just add up everything you need to be competitive with a brushed system and you will be suprized. I know it is a pipe dream...but hey, ya gotta have dreams, right?

Just remember if we keep doing things the way it's always been done, nothing will ever change...

No sense in arguing about brushed vs brushless, I know where I stand and nothing will change my mind. Even if I do "give in" and get an old system so I can play, I still know which is the better overall system. I gave brushed a shot this summer at Trackside and my conclusion from that is "I'd rather race than wrench".
