Maybe, the question should be "What should I consider when I decide to with a particular group?"

I have only three major categories that I considered when I decided to fly regularly with a particular group:

• Camaraderie
  • The group readily shares and shows "tips and tools" to make you fly better and safer.
    • We're talking not of things you read on RC Modeler or from the web; but, people who have years of expeirence and almost countless hours of stick time.
    • I've been flying close to three years (2 with EP) and (1 with GP); and, mind you, I still have a long way to go.
  • The group makes it easy for you to integrate with them.
    • This means you are treated equally and fairly as with anyone.
    • There is no one-upmanship and no snubbing of people because you fly "not as well" as they are.
  • You develop a sense of pride and belonging to the group to the point of "loyalty" with that group.
• Field Conditions
  • The flying conditions in the field stable enough to allow one to develop a sense of "security" with flying his/her airplane. Yet, by the same token, offer changes that challenge one to try or hone his/her skills.
  • The field should also allow you to fly on other times sans restrictions...or limitations.
• Costs --- This includes:
  • distance to/from your point of origin (residence, I suppose);
  • potential damage costs to your aircraft when it crashes or is lost;
  • other costs (food and "pulot boys").
• Personal Objectives --- What do you see yourself doing or flying one year from the start of your "carrer" in RC flying?
