Default MTCC Race Report of PY Tang

As year 2011 closing to an end, another big race was held in the South East Asian city of Manila, Philippines. At one of the world class race track in Asia, JP Raceway hosted the annual MTCC (Manila Touring Car Championships) from December 9-11, 2011. Pristine and a well-maintained track saw around 50 drivers competing in Super Stock 13.5T and Novice Class. MTCC is definitely one of the must-go event in the coming years.

With the help of ORCA Asia and ORCA Philippines, we are proud that newly-introduced ORCA TQ'ed and finished top 5 in the Super Stock 13.5T, and with 6 ORCA drivers in the A-Main.

NASA Mighty Gripper V2 continued to be the top choice for tire addictive. We greatly appreciate the support from the drivers and hope that the product will get them into more A-Mains!

Practise session started on Friday, with many drivers struggled with low traction. The track was washed and cleaned in the early week just before the event. Traction started to come up in the late afternoon and lap times were more decent and NASA Mighty Gripper V2 tire addictive to be the top choice for most drivers. In the Super Stock Touring 13.5T, long-time competitor and friends between JP Reyes and former Tamiya factory driver Yuichiro Takaya led the pace in the qualifying rounds. J.P.Reyes tops the group with the only 22 lapper after round 1. Traction was still building up leading to qualifying round 3, Yuichiro Takaya and P.Y.Tang improved, when they posted top 2 time respectively. The top of group stayed pretty much the same after round 4. With the last qualifying round on Sunday morning, traction stayed high and JP Reyes came back to top the group with an amazing run while Josh Castro propelled to 4th.

Top 10 Qualifying Standings (Super Stock 13.5T)
Driver - Chassis - ESC - Motor - Battery
1. JP Reyes - Tamiya TRF417X - ORCA - ORCA - ORCA - 22 laps - 5:09.017
2. Yuichiro Taka - Hotbodies TCX - ORCA - ORCA - Orion - 22 laps - 5:11.547
3. P.Y.Tang - XRAY T3'12 - ORCA - ORCA - ORCA - 22 laps - 5:12.848
4. Josh Castro - Hotbodies TCX - Tekin - SP - 22 laps - 5:14.169
5. Ralph Lorenzo - Tamiya TRF417 - Hobbywing - ORCA - 21 laps - 5:01.553
6. Joseph Salcedo - Hotbodies TCX - ORCA - ORCA - 21 laps - 5:01.985
7. Gerry Soler - Yokomo BD5WX - Tekin - Reedy - 21 laps - 5:02.365
8. Greg Garcia - Yokomo BD5WX - Tekin - SP - 21 laps - 5:05.391
9. Anton Ramos - Tamiya TRF417 - ProSpec - SP - 21 laps - 5:07.144
10. Gerome Ling - Tamiya 416 - ORCA - ORCA - ORCA - 21 laps - 5:09.829

Great scheduling made the event very relaxed and efficient, with race starting at about 2pm everyday. Final A1 started off cleanly for JP Reyes and Yuichiro Takaya, while P.Y.Tang dropped 2 position to Josh Castro and Joseph Salcedo. Yuichiro Takaya caught a berm, dropping him to mid-pack. JP Reyes ran a clean run maintaining his lead and finished 1st, ahead of P.Y.Tang in 2nd and Joseph Salcedo in 3rd. Final A2 was a more exciting race when JP Reyes and Yuichiro Takaya practically glued together from start till the end with JP Reyes winning Final A2 and the championship. Podium was still up for grabs between Yuichiro Takaya, P.Y.Tang and Joseph Salcedo. Yuichiro Takaya took an easy win in Final A3 after a roll by JP Reyes. P.Y.Tang, Josh Castro was battling out for 2nd but a 3-way contact between them and JP Reyes turned the situation around with Joseph Salcedo taking the opportunity to finished in 2nd, while P.Y.Tang unable to catch up to finished in 3rd. JP Reyes took the overall win, followed by Yuichiro Takaya securing 2nd overall in Final A3, while Joseph Salcedo completed the podium with 1 second advantage with tied-points to P.Y.Tang in 4th overall.

A word of encouragement to 15-year old Singapore driver Daryl Thong to finish B-Main 4th in Super Stock 13.5T starting from 10th position. This is his first international race also running a XRAY T3'12 and ORCA, Daryl Thong was on pace with the A-Main drivers but small mistakes in the qualifying rounds dropped him to B-Main 10th.

Congratulations are in order for the 2011 Manila Touring Car Championship winners - JP Reyes (Super Stock Class) and Timothy Angtuaco (Novice Class)! Awesome wins by both our class champions! Really great racing by everyone!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors who helped make the biggest race of the year yet another success > ORCA, GT Power, Sorex, Sweep, Action Hobbies, Lil's Hobby Center, Pitshop, JP Raceway and ThisIsRC.com! ... the support you continue to give helps us make the MTCC bigger and better every year!

To our special guests and new friends, PY Tang and Daryl Thong, thank you for coming over and racing with us! The support also from ORCA is very much appreciated! Looking forward to having you back again next year!

And of course, to each and every racer who participated in this year's event ... in the end, it's all about the racing and about having fun in the process! Little by little we've been able to not only keep the on-road RC scene alive, have the skill levels of our locals become more and more competitive, but also keep it steadily growing! So much to look forward to in the future of on-road racing, and it's good to have all of you along for the ride!

Rest assured, we'll keep trying to make things better and FUNer (if there's such a word )!!!

As we always say, tuloy ang ligaya ... Karrera na!!! Here's to more racing action in 2012! See you all at the track!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!! AND GOD BLESS!!!

Meron nagbebenta nyan, check mo kung available pa. For me, looks like the TA06 has to most centered square among the various chassis.
