Ei, salamat nga pala sa silvercan race kahapon... First time ko pa lang nakapagrace and it was fun, sayang nga lang at kelangan umuwi agad. Anyway, thanks sa mga racers na tumulong magsetup ng kit ko...

jagito/mailbox: nice to have you guys join us! sensya na mga sir, pag club race kasi mejo relax mode lang talaga tayo mga kapatid so expect the races to end around 730ish talaga. pag naging adik na kayo husto, baka nga 1030pm na di pa kayo umalis sa track! hahaha .... but hope you understand, we dont pressure the racers and the organizers too much for a very fast paced race kasi relax lang nga talaga para naman enjoy lahat - pati kami! and last sat took a bit of time to start up kasi new laptop needed to be configured and set up. nag reboot nga siya nung isang round ng mod kaya ganun and we had that trasponder reading problem we had to solve in the first silver can qualifier. kita kits next race!

senyor sandrixx...nice to have met you sir! And yes, thanks to robo and toink I feel like I took a bath in Caldryl ointment...wala ng kati.

jags, mail...great racing with you guys. Be warned, you caught kirizuto on an "off" day. 23T A-main level driver yan...expect a major comeback in our next races from the guy.

mail...good luck with your shopping spree...I saw a couple of batts that may interest you and Action has a charger that is uncannily similar to mine except for the brand.

kiri...bro, moral of the day...wag magpuyat before a race...look at kimi getting a**whipped by hami, kovi and massi.

robo, toink...thanks for the last minute setup...saved me from some major withdrawal.

oldskul/rnold...I got my M03 today...any chance you guys will sneak in a "mini" class on the 23rd???

Any chance of a spec TT01/103/M03 clubbie alternating with robo's open SC/23/Mod clubbie sked??? Seems like an excellent combination.

Thanks for the heads up! Looks good naman but still building up my budget. Siguro charger nga muna then save up for the batts. Better that way than the other way around.

Tanong lang, which Lipo battery brand is good? Of course dapat hard case. But I see some with only sockets for bullet connectors, mga iba naman, naka deans then may isang small wire connector for balancing. Which is better or what's the diff? Thanks

The only experience I've had are with Orion and Trakpower. Orion has reliable ratings and sturdy Kokam cells that can survive a slight over-discharge.

As for the connectors...some like Orion/Peak/Checkpoint/Trakpower have 2 large sockets for +/- and a small one for balancing. They include bullet connectors that you can either connect directly to the ESC or to a deans connector. The manufacturers claim that you can charge each cel so that you can balance them without a Lipo balancer. Because they use the same configuration you can use a Trakpower balancer on an Orion batt (like me) ie mix and match.

Others like SMC, Yeah racing and Intellect have the hardwired deans connector and a small white balancing connector. The catch is that there is no standard connector so you have to a) buy a balancer that has the proper connector or b) has multiple connectors.

So as far as the +/- connectors go you can treat them the way you do Nicad/Nimhs...direct to the ESC or soldered to a connector of your preference.

It's really the white balance connector you need to worry about for brands that use it...if you buy one brand you'll need a balancer that will fit the connector of that brand. The good news is that a lot of balancers have multiple connectors.

Performance-wise it's best to get the highest capacity and C rating you can afford and that will fit your chassis. Herein lies one issue with Lipos...there is no way to verify C-ratings. IMHO it's best to use what the fast racers use.

Lastly, if you plan to run with both Nicad/Nimh and Lipo...it may be safer to have a dedicated Lipo charger instead...it'll be cheaper and safer...charging a Lipo at the wrong setting WILL destroy the batt and MIGHT even lead to a fire.

HTH

@ robo: its ok, ganyan din nman kami pag may drift comp eh. its better that way, a much relaxed event ika nga. Kung wala lang gagawin i can stay till jp closes.

@ Neil, Nice racing with you too.. kulang pa sa setup ang kit ko, esp sa gearing kaya na overlap mo ako 2x . Babawi ako next time. Congrats nga pala balita ko, you bag the gold...

@ Mail: your best bet for lipos are Orions (get the 30c 3800mah, lots of punch). Another option is the Intellect Hard Case 3800mah 25c. Maganda rin un, with bullet connectors pa like the Orion. Halos wala namang difference ang may balancing lead or wala except ung may balancing lead at wala The Intellect hard case Lipo comes with 2 bullet connectors for power and 1 mini connector for the small balancing port. you just have to get a deans plug, wires and a balancing port plug and assemble it. Yung Balancing lead ang di ko mahanap. But once I do, i will show you the output.

@ everyone, meron ba kayong alam ng mabibilhan ng 3port Balancing plug? wala sa battery specialist eh...
