Driver nice but what chassis?
Nice listing but I am curious what chassis motor brand and if possible body and batteries are being used by at least the top 5 placers of each category. Just to get an idea what the fast guys are using nowadays:)

thanks!
Good one! Nice to know my fave electric chassis (Yokomo ) still does well. Thanks for posting the specifics.
How did the nitro race in Montalban go? |
Great turn out and result for the Yokomo chassis!!!
I've been in Canada for 7 years now and can't believe how big the R/C scene has grown back home. I'll be visiting in mid December 'til early January. Anybody got every raceways schedule during this time period?? Mostly interested in touring cars but watching off-road wouldn't be that bad :) one more thing, anybody know how much a Yokomo CGM car cost over there? Thanks, Roy |

TOURING MASTERS
REPORT #1 PRE RACE REPORT QUALIFYING REPORT For the first time in the history of the Touring Masters, not only did we run clockwise, the layout was changed to 'level' the playing field. Team Bacolod started the practice the day after I had changed the layout. Unfortunately, only a few other racers managed to pratice due to typhoon Yoyong (may God bless our unfortunate brothers...). At any rate, it was a very challenging racetrack layout and brought out the best in the Philippine's racers... MASTERS STOCK First heat was an omen for the Manila contigent. Leorey Yanson(Associated) with his TC4 sets the pace with a blistering run of 23 laps 5m10s. Only one local, Chuck Montecillo (Losi) manages 23 laps. Although he was off by over 7 seconds... The second heat sees 2 more drivers make the 23 lap mark. Joseph Salcedo (Tamiya) and Tutoy Aldaba (Tamiya). The third heat locks Leorey's pole position with an improved time of 5m5s; over 5 seconds ahead of #2.... Second on the grid was Chuck edging out Joseph by only 0.2 s. 1st LEOREY YANSON (TC4) 2nd CHUCK MONTECILLO (XXXS) 3rd JOSEPH SALCEDO (415) 4th TUTOY ALDABA (415) 5th ALLAN HIZON (FK) 6th GARET SANTAYANA (Pro4) 7th RUPERT HINOJALES (Pro4) 8th JEFE INFANTE (dropped) MASTERS MODIFIED The first heat was the best heat for the masters modified and will seal pole position for defending champion Jason Rodriguez(Yokomo) and his CGM. Leorey (HPI) was very close behind, only trailing by half a second. The second heat saw no major changes and only 2 drivers improved. Mike Ang (Associated) and Paolo Rojas (Yokomo). The third heat was the final attempt to conquer pole position, unfortunately, only one driver improved on his time at this point, Ronchie Garcia (Yokomo) while the rest had runs no better than their previous. The top 3 spots were separated by only 1 SECOND! 1st JASON RODRIGUEZ (CGM) 2nd LEOREY YANSON (Pro4) 3rd RONCHIE GARICA (CGM) 4th GERRY SOLER (Mi2) 5th SONNY YALUNG (TC4) 6th MIKE ANG (TC4) 7th PAOLO ROJAS (CGM) Finals report tomorrow with pictures!!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED especially to our local racers who braved the gruelling 6 weeks of qualifying and to team bacolod who came to test their mettle with Manila's finest THANKS to Chuck "Mr. TNT" Montecillo for the free magazines THANKS to Sonny Yalung for the sound system THANKS to everyone who helped out in organizing the race, my mechanic extraordinaire Jason Rodriguez and my substitute host Mr. Ronald Blackman and most of all THANKS TO GOD FOR GIVING US GREAT WEATHER THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MASTERS... THE BEST EVER!!! See you at the Christmas Race!!!! P.S. You can send your donations (food and cash only) to the shop or leave them with me during race days |
TOURING MASTERS
REPORT #2 FINALS REPORT As the day progressed. It was clear that Leorey had an edge up with Stock Masters and would require tremendous effort from the locals to usurp his current position. Although the battle was very close in Mod Masters, pressure was on the 2 Yokomo drivers sandwiching Leo, Jason at TQ and Ronchie Garica at 3rd. Weather was very hot and track conditions gradually changed throughout the day. Surefire formula for exciting racing action! The weight limit was imposed (1525g) without a hitch; coincidentally it was Leorey Yanson who made the suggestion months ago.... Stock motor inspections also went very smooth and I am very proud to say there were ZERO problems with regards to cars not making the weight limit or suspicious motors. MASTERS STOCK The first heat was crucial. Leorey puts on the gas and creates an early lead... Chuck Montecillo at 2nd on the grid experiences technical problems and does his best to keep his position for a few laps, unfortunately his car is too slow and the others begin to pass. The battle for 2-4 places were very intense (Leorey was leading by 10 sec at this point) and there were some minor crashes. Allan Hizon manages to pull out and take 2nd... when Leorey makes a mistake and crashes into the barrier. Allan Hizon almost catches him but 2 laps later, he extends his lead again. The second heat proceeded much like the first. Leorey with the early lead while the others battled for positions 2-4.... This time it is Joseph Salcedo who takes 2nd... And in a display of domination, Leorey almost LAPS the entire field in STOCK.....!! With 2 wins in the bag, Leorey is 2004 STOCK MASTER. Sitting out the 3rd heat, the battle was between 2nd on the grid Chuck and nemesis Joseph at 3rd. A clip at the early part of the heat allows Joseph to pull away securing his win for the 3rd heat. FINAL STANDINGS 1st LEOREY YANSON - ASSOCIATED TC4 - SANWA M8 - LRP QC2 2nd JOSEPH SALCEDO - 415 - 3PK - KEYENCE 3rd ALLAN HIZON - FK - 3PK - NOVAK GTX 4th CHUCK MONTECILLO - LOSI XXXS - SANWA M8 - NOVAK GT7 5th TUTOY ALDABA - 415 - SANWA M8 - NOVAK GTX 6th RUPERT HINOJALES - Pro4 7th GARET SANTAYANA - Pro4 - 3PK - KEYENCE 8th JEFE INFANTE - drops MASTERS MODIFIED The first heat in this modified race was easily the most crucial. TQ Jason Rodriguez takes the early lead and leads for half the race. Leorey is at 2nd and Ronchie maintains 3rd. Paolo Rojas is out with antenna problems and Mike Ang with a wheel popping loose. At the 2 min mark, Jason makes an uncharacteristic mistake and flips... giving the lead to Leorey and Ronchie is at 2nd. The top2 cars maintain position and are separated by only 0.5 seconds for over a minute when just as Leorey makes a mistake and flips over, Ronchie's car just dies! A quick pick up by the marshalls gives Leorey heat #1. Ronchie is in anguish over a little pebble that gets stuck in his motor!! The second heat was a bit different. This time, there was much contact in the first corner and saw the top 3 drivers taken out temporarily! At this point, Sonny Yalung with his new TC4 takes the lead and is on pace to take the win... Solid effort by Leorey and Jason to catch up to the field. At the last one minute mark, Sonny makes a crucial mistake and cuts a corner too early... allowing Leorey to make the pass yet again and take heat #2 and the overall title of MOD MASTER! Sonny finishes 2nd. Gerry Soler in his Mi2 third.... Again sitting out the last heat... the race was for 2nd place overall. The battle raged between Ronchie Garcia and Sonny Yalung which were almost unseparable throughout the race.. but in the end it was Ronchie's CGM that takes top spot in this heat! Coincidentally, both drivers changed cars in time for the Masters finals... FINAL STANDINGS 1st LEOREY YANSON - Pro4 - SANWA M8 - LRP - PEAK 2nd RONCHIE GARCIA - YOKOMO - SANWA M8 - NOVAK - REEDY 3rd SONNY YALUNG - AE TC4 - SANWA M8 - NOVAK - TRINITY 4th GERRY SOLER - SCHUMACHER - KO - LRP - REEDY 5th JASON RODRIGUEZ - YOKOMO - SANWA M8 - NOVAK - REEDY 6th PAOLO ROJAS - YOKOMO - SANWA M8 - NOVAK 7th MIKE ANG - AE TC4 - SANWA M8 - NOVAK - TRINITY All in all a very exciting Masters series!!!! Wacky Cup 3 Litson Race
It was a cloudy day. All roads lead to the Capitol Speedway for the most awaited event of the year...The Wacky Cup 3 Litson 2-in-1 Race! The place was packed to the rafters ... you can barely squeeze into the tracks without getting your pockets picked by unscrupulous elements. there was even these guys with the letters M, A, N and G painted on their chest. just don't know why the hell they would do that!
at a glance, you will see at the pit area the hustle and bustle that you see at the monumento LRT station on a rush hour on a monday and there's a transport strike! everybody was busy fixing and tuning their rides. one even went to all the trouble of rotating not just 2 but ALL of his tires! only a serious, kick-ass, no-nonsense, give-it-your-all kind of racer would do such a thing! not that i'm carrying my own bench here but i'm sure when you ask this person, he'd probably tell you, "Why not?! i don't want to take any chances! this is the Wacky Cup, man!" as i was about to sit at the pit area, a fellow racer approached me and asked, in a subtle, yet veeeerrry eerie way ... "WHERE'S THE LITSON?!" FINAL RESULTS Wacky ROAR Stock Worlds Edition Champion Chris Cheung of China 2nd Place Chito Detabali of Indonesia 3rd Place Rough Vaggas of India Wacky Open Mod Champion Jason "Highwayman" Rodriguez 2nd Place Ronchie "Kupz" Garcia 3rd Place Sonny "FBJ" Yalung to the fellow racer who approached me, i replied ... "May kanin na, malapit na yung litson, hehe!" well, it was really worth the wait ... the litson i mean. SSSSAAARRRAAAAAP! :D |
