Vintage RC Club
Welcome to the Vintage RC Club thread, the place for RC collectors. As Tamiya celebrates its 30th year of their 1st RC car model# 58001 Porsche 934 Turbo produced in 1976, it is about time that we pay homage to our old RC cars sitting rustic and dusting in our cabinets. In this thread we can talk about the old RC cars we have/had; Seach for that vintage RC car you've always wanted as a kid; sell or swap that vintage RC you are willing to part with; join the hunt for the oldest RC model in the Philippines; look around for vintage RC parts, and then maybe when all our vintage RCs are complete and working we can just enjoy together running our vintage RCs just like the old times.
So, dust off that vintage RC and bring it back to life. Lets go retro!

more info on Tamiya's 1st RC car:
model number 58001
model name Porsche 934 Turbo RSR
released 4-DEC-76
drive 2WD rear
suspension Rear motor pod is springloaded
chassis description Aluminium plate
body ABS hardbody
motor RS-360S
original price 9800 Yen
width 168mm
length 370mm
height 105mm
scale 1/12th
The year 1976, Tamiya had just spent zillions designing & tooling up to make a 1/12th plastic kit of the Porsche Carrera RSR (including buying a 911 for complete stripdown just to get the dimensions right).
The finally finished static kit was selling in reasonable numbers but not yet breakeven... how to sell more?
Whilst the boardmembers mulled... loud droning noise pierced the air:
'That stupid new accounts clerk Fumito Taki, playing with his silly RC airplane', mumbled one.
'Taki-kun is just crazy into all things RC', agreed another.
'Dirty smelly noisy hobby engines', commented a third.
*** 12 months later ***
Tamiya's RA1201, priced at JPY9800 for the kit and approx JPY17000 including radio (an extraordinarily exhorbitant sum in those days), sells over ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITS in its First Year!!!
This, from a guy to whom most said 'There you go again, just playing around with your toys again'.
So let this be a lesson - Be Bold, Breakout!

now that we have this thread, mukhang maganda rin i-revive ko nalang yung opel ascona ko w/ a futaba stick type controller, di ko nga lang alam kung ano year yun, pero analog pa yung battery display eh... here are some pictures.
partially revived body, la nako nun original decals kaya binago ko nalang kulay, tsaka puro crack na...
model number 58037
model name Opel Ascona 400 Rally
released 7-Nov-83
drive 2wd rear
suspension Coil sprung all round, front indepentant rear solid axle
chassis desc. Plastic Bathtub Design
body Lexan with ABS front and rear additions
motor 540
Virtually identical to the Audi Quattro rally car, difference being the body shell which is another Tamiya masterpiece!! lexan shell with ABS plastic front and rear sections for amazing detail. A great looking model, but lacked the handling of it's full size counterpart.

itong rc na to ka-edad ko na, pero got this 3years ago, some good hearted fellow rc'er gave it to me...

nitro:
San mo nakuha yan?
