Default Which one? Can't decide...

Hello sifus,

I would like some honest and sincere advice.
I've been out of R/C for more than 10yrs and want to get back into it again.
When I left the R/C world, it was all EP 1/10 buggy.
Now, it's a totally different things.
So, I consider myself a newbie once again.

I would like to know a few things.
1) Which is more popular?(As in more support and races)
EP TC, GP TC or GP 1/8 offroad?

2) Where are the regular tracks for gp TC and EP TC?
I know 1/8 offroad is at Glenmarie...

I don't mean to start a, EP vs GP war, so I hope you can just give your sincere opinions to a newbie.

Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
Vader

Vader, because different people have different taste, I suggest you just head to those RC spots and tracks and get a "feel" of what others are playing, be it GP or EP / onroad or offroad. See what they're playing and check which one is most appealing to you...

Some guides;

Offroad 1/8th GP - Glenmarie or Jump Square Arena
Onroad 1/8th GP - Titiwangsa, Seremban 2 and sometimes at Kota Raja
Onroad 1/10th GP - Titiwangsa, Seremban 2, Andalas and Kota Raja
Onroad 1/10th EP - Kota Raja, Subang Speedway, Glenmarie (??)

Also, it depends on if you want to join races or just in it for the fun of it. Right now, offroad 1/8th is increasing in popularity for races but 1/10th TC GP and EP are always hot because more permanent tracks are available for them. My 2 sen.

To add on to what Prof D mentioned, choose (GP or EP) something that your friends are playing!

Oh yes ! That's a must.

I forgot to add that for Onroad 1/10th TC GP and EP, you can also come to Atria shopping centre in Damansara Jaya. I'm sure Vader knows where it is since he's an old bird.

You can almost never go wrong with either class.
End of the day, we are still suckers paying thousands of dollars on toys.
LoL
But seriously, go down to the local track and check it out.
Talk to the owner of the track or to the people around the track.
They will be happy to answer most of your questions openly.

Thanks for all your advice guys.

Me cannot be considered old bird.
Out of R/C for too long. Been resisting the temptation to get back in but can't resist anymore. Too painful...

Adrian,

Toys??? I've been trying for the last donkey years trying to convince people that they are not toys. Especially people that come up to me and ask, "Why you so old still want to play with these toys...?"

BTW, I'm from Melaka but just moved up to KL. Been to TT to watch the race 3 weeks ago and also back to Melaka to watch the offroad race 2 weeks ago...

I know where Atria is but can someone tell me where Kota Raja and Andalas is?

Will be at Glenmarie to catch the race this weekend...
Good luck to all participants...

Cheers,
Vader

PS: Just got my hands on an old Kyosho Alpha RTR set. "Stolen" from a friends who doesn't play anymore... Good enough to satisfy my trigger finger... for now...

Why not ask this question in the buggy thread instead of hijacking it from the original poster's questions?

Like what Uncle Crash always say, "The only way to get rid of temptations is to yield to it"...

Prof D,

How true....
I was at a point where I had to stay away from the R/C mags at the magazine rack. Wah lau eh... damn difficult OK?
Last time, only got RC Car Action and that british mag RC Car or RC Racer... Now... so many mags...
Not only that, last time only got 1 track in TT, now got many tracks...
Also, everywhere got r/c shop. Last time, have to go to Ampang Park...
How to resist??? Then one day, my hand itchy, go and pick up one rc magazine... finish lah.... no turning back...
