I agree with Mikecan8.
All we are asking is to control the number of tire sets can be used for the entire race and not the brand of tires. Tire costs is the main factor for every racer.
Although Acorn have announced that the champion will get 1 year supply of batteries(the number of packs and conditions unknown). Logics tells me that if I spend RM600 on tires for this race does not guarantee me champion, however I DO know that if I buy the batteries myself I am guaranteed that I can buy enough batteries to last me for a good part of a year for RM600, perhaps may cost even less.
At this age and time, there is practically no races out there that has no tire limit.
Remember if the racer pok-kai there will be no racers and you know what that will eventually mean. Don't kill the hobby.

We are not working with any tyres sponsors nor motor companies and we are not going to work on any hand out expandables like motors or tyres. Thus, we will not be limiting the number of sets of tyres to be used. This rule shall for the race.

limitation of tyres
Dear All,
Thank you for all the replies in the thread. We have no intention of making drivers fork out alot more money for a race that we are trying to bench mark. However, we have to look at the rules as an overview and this is definitely an oversight.
Please understand that this is a one day race where there is no open practice. The layout will either be set up on saturday night or sunday morning.
We have drivers coming from all over the states and countries. There are drivers who might reach only on a saturday night and have no feel at all of the track condition.
We do not want to constraint the rules as much as possible. Should we really exercise control, we will ban all motors running rotors more than 12.5mm (E.g Qx-1), turbo esc and such.
We understand that drivers will need to adapt to various conditions in a race. However, we understand that most drivers are from the home track where there is alot of home ground advantage to the traction changes and track time in on road is basically a pure advantage unlike off road. There are too much variaition to the the type of tyres to be used and the inserts to pair.
There might be other dispute and we do understand that not 100% of the drivers here are happy with. We cannot compromise to individual request in a race and lose our ground rules. We thank you for the support and we are sorry to inform you that all rules stipulated are final.There will be NO limitations of sets of tyres.
Control tyres and motors will be considered for the races going forward where there is a day for open practise like all official sanctioned races by ROAR or FEMCA.

I have been to races that:
1. Control brand of tires but no limit to the sets they can use
2. No brand no limit of sets used
3. Control brand and control sets
Understand the need to control something, be it motor, tires etc, for a fairer race or maybe to bring cost down so an average racer can have fun. However, I think, in the end its up to the Organizers to decide the R&R.
Also, in terms of the company that is doing this race, primarily i think they do batteries only so maybe its hard for them to tie up with tires/motor companies for sponsorship? I dunno, just speculating. So i guess for them to come up with sponsorship prizes for the Champion i think its a great enough gesture.
End of the day, we race to have fun and to learn and make friends, of course I cannot speak for all racers (some maybe more serious about it than others) If the race don't suit you, don't race. If it does, have fun.

i have question about the wing, your acorn rules pdf state that wing cannot exceed side of body..is that all the rules for wing? i hope on race day you dont suddenly use the cheking block and say the wing is too high,, i am using the standard mazda 6 protoform body with the wing.
