hi there Jude. Hope can help u here.
  1. Firstly what is your budget?
  2. Do you prefer electric power or gas nitro power?
  3. Do you like offroad that goes on dirt, jump here and there or onroad car which plays on asphalt only?

you get this answered 1st then easy to direct you to the right place to buy

Some info from Acorn Racing about lipos

What Is the Capacity of a pack?

It is basically defined by the mAh or Ah that is stipulated on most labels of battery packs. The higher the capacity in (mAh) or (Ah), the higher the run time of a pack. mAh is

What Is Series
An individual Lithium Polymer cell has a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts per cell. When the cells are connected in series, the output voltage multiplies. This is defined by the XSXP stipulated in the labels which actually meant the configuration of the battery.

For example: 1 S = 3.7 V 2 S = 3.7x2=7.4 V 3 S = 3.7x3=11.1 V 4 S = 3.7x4=14.8V

What Is Parallel
When individual cells are connected in parallel, the overall output voltage is not changed but the capacity multiplies by the number of cells multiplied in parallel. Connecting two Li-Poly cells in parallel doubles the capacity, which means more run time but that does not constitute to a higher discharge rate.
This is defined by the XSXP stipulated in the labels which actually meant the configuration of the battery.

For example:
5500mAh 2S2P
2 S = 3.7x2=7.4 V 2 P = 5500mAh / 2=2750mAh per cell
5500mAh 2S1P
2 S = 3.7x2=7.4 V 1 P = 5500mAh / 1=5500mAh per cell

What Is C Rating
C or Current rating specifies how much current the pack is capable of discharging consistently to the minimal voltage of 2.75V. The charge and discharge current of a battery is measured in terms of C. This is also the average recommended discharge current for the cell.

For example:
Acorn Racing 5500mAh, 36C 2S1P states a 36C continuous discharge rating.
Formula to determine the discharge rate is as follows:
Capacity in (Ah) x C rating = 5.5Ah x 36C = 198 amps
Burst of a Cell is calculated in terms of C ratings as well; this rating determines the maximum current draw within a span of 6 seconds.

For example:
Acorn Racing 5500mAh, 36C, 2S1P, 55C Burst states a 36C continuous discharge rating.
Formula to determine the discharge rate is as follows:
Capacity in (Ah) x C rating = 5.5Ah x 55C = 302.5Amps continuous for 6 seconds

Battery’s Theoretical Run Time
A battery’s run time on given discharge capacity can be obtained by: Discharge capacity(Ah) / Discharge current (A) = Used hour of the battery
** This formula is based on a continuous discharge and not based on drawn current from the ESC. It is almost impossible for a piece of electronic to be drawing a continuous 150amps, this heat generated from the draw could have easily killed all the MOSFETS in your electronics. There is also a high possibility of melted plugs and solder due to the heat generated.

Battery Matching
Balance cells eliminate mismatches of cells whether in series or parallel. This will significantly improve battery efficiency and maximize the pack’s capacity. As the number of cells and load currents increase, the potential for mismatch also increases. When a pack is not matched, the pack will be restricted to the lowest capacity and the lowest performance cell.

There are two kinds of matching methods for matching of Lithium Polymers:
1. State Of Charge Matching (SOC)
2. Capacity / Energy Matching (C/E)

A matched pack is based on 3 main conditions:
When all cells have similar capacity; they are balanced. This happens when they have the same relative state of charge (SOC). The open circuit voltage (OCV) is a good measure of the SOC. If, in an out-of-balance pack, all cells can be differentially charged to full capacity (balanced), they will subsequently cycle normally without any additional adjustments provided that there is no difference in resistance during the assembly and a pack is considered match with 95% accuracy.

If the cells have different capacities, they are also considered balanced when the SOC is the same. But, since SOC is a relative measure, the absolute amount of capacity for each cell is different. To keep the cells with different capacities at the same SOC, cell balancing must provide differential amounts of current to cells in the series string during both charge and discharge on every cycle and this is made impossible should there be a parallel string.

Last but not least, a matched pack should be matched in accordance to their nominal voltage and current and this can only be done when the cells are removed from the isolation chamber. The voltage and current is verified and matched using their read figures.
Charging a Pack of Li-Po

The recommended way is to charge at constant current until each individual cell reaches 4.2 V; the charger must then gradually reduce the charge current while holding the cell voltage at 4.2 V until the charge current drops to 10% of the initial charge rate. The pack at this point is considered 100% charged.

Balance charging simply means that the charger monitors the voltage of each cell in a pack and varies the charge on a per-cell basis so that all cells are brought to the same voltage. Note that there is no charger that caters to the maintenance of a battery pack in the parallel ports. Chargers are still limited to identifying each series port achieving the peak voltage but not individual cells in the parallel port.

It is important to note that trickle charging is not meant for lithium batteries; Li-ion chemistry cannot accept an overcharge without causing damage to the cell, possibly plating out lithium metal and becoming hazardous. Some manufacturers claim a maximum and minimum voltage of 4.23 and 3.0 volts per cell without calculating the safety factor. Taking any cell outside these limits can reduce the cell's capacity and ability to deliver full rated current.

hi there Adric?

sorry to say, we do not have a proper offroad track. but we do have a place to go for bashing. open construction yard! bigger than Glenmarie some more

yes we go bashing mostly evry weekend.

just contact us if you want to join us. We play almost anything RC. We fly heli, aeroplane and latest craze, we race boat too. Oh ya, we go rock and mud crawling too. fun rc stuffs as always

if u have any of the above rc stuffs, just bring along. im sure my friends will be delighted to accompany u play
