The reason is because it depends on your front caster setting.

If your rear diff is tight and you use a lot of front caster (front upper arm moves more towards behind), you get more off power AND on power steering.

Generally, a looser rear diff will give better off power steering but to a certain extend only lah. Too loose and the car is very unstable like what you've mentioned.

Theoretically with a looser rear diff, both left and right wheels have more ease to spin on their own, hence generate the grip in corners. But then, with a tighter rear diff, the RESISTANCE of the tires to generate individual spin MAY also bring about some level of grip, UNTIL the resistance grip gave way and then causing the rear to break loose. And practically, I found that with a looser rear diff, the car tends to behave unpredictably entering into corners...no confidence on the rear end. Play tell I guess, different tracks will have different kind of traction characteristics that require different theories and setups...
Foooohhhhhhh!

Assuming you are running 1 way...
1) Make sure you are running the right tyre dia. and the right shore.
2) Set front ride height slightly lower, 0.5mm, than rear.
3) Tighten rear diff...

Try these 3 first, if still cannot quit and give me all your stuff...
