Lightbulb What oil can be used for air filter?

Is there a way of getting cheap but reliable air filter oil? Of course we can buy from LHS but it's not cheap also. Any DIY or recommendation would be appreciated, TQ

no, don't use cooking oil, later your foam will be full of mildew remember that we are driving an offroad car. just use motorcycle's air filter oil or ATF.

I am amazed that you are willing to risk your engine with DIY filter oil.
Some things you can diy to save cost but others its just not worth it.

On roads maybe it is possible as the dirt isnt that bad but buggy.............it's just not worth the pain.

go to motorbike spare part selling shop and ask for motorcross air filter oil
Bel-Ray,Topoil or any kind can do..also don't forget to apply medium thickness grease ( mineral or petroleum base only not the silicon base ) at the bottom and top inside cover of your air filter, bearing selling or machine shop have it.

ini tip i dapat during my first offroad race

RC are not toys, toys are cheap and RC are not. After investing so much and you get frustrated in the end, what's the point?

just to share some info, air filter is very very veryyyyyyy............. important element in offroad racing................

if a air filter fall out from the carb just less then a fuel tank......congrat to you......... you will get a new engine............

Try to take out the air filter from the carb and cover the carb. hole with your finger and pull full throttle.......your finger will feel a very powerful vacuum suction into the carb...........(please be careful, the power can even suck your skin into it - we bear no responsibility for you to try out this)

just imgine if you don't fill the air filter with a proper oil......how much dust will suck into the engine...............

the other thing I notice many like to wash the air filter for many times........

what you thing.....when you wash the dirty foam to get mud and dust out from the tiny foam holes..........will the foam holes getting bigger and if the dust can get out would it be easily to go thru again when you are using after wash with the strong suction by the carb.................

Frankly speaking we cannot 100% prevent any dust to go in to the engine

But at least we can do some thing to minimise it.....................

Our way is...........use a proper air filter oil (if you don't want to use r/c oil you can buy motorcross air filter oil - very sticky type) to oil the air filter completely

OIL not only inner foam but the outer foam as well..........

when playing or racing.....during the interval or may be in between heats just wash the outer foam and oil it again.....the inner foam will get clean always.........

after quite some time(actually last for a long time) just change the inner foam but don't rewash and use it back.......what we mean just thrash it a way into rubbish tank.............................

we use the air filter foams not more than a packs in a year ( 6 in a pack).

Just calculate yourself is that expensive then changing a new engine....................

RM10 to RM20 per month would you think is too much to saves.........

we spent$ to saves$$$ but not saves$ to spent$$$$....................
