Some pics that I took 4 years back when I raced in Melbourne. Attended two race meets. The race in this pics, I tapau.... heh heh heh...... This was their Victoria State Race. Some of their best racers were there. The famous Corally Sponsored IFMAR racer, Andy Cooke took the championship. Can't remember my position though. Mid runner B main I think. The yellow car 5th on the grid was my HPI pro3 car. Not enough time to practice so setting was totally out. Notice how bad my racing line was and how far from the apex my car took the corner....... Very embarassing.....
However, during one of the club race. (Keilor RC On Road Club) my car was totally dialled..... Managed....ahem...... quite a satisfactory result. Itu pun pakai tayar dan pinion pinjam.... Ratio 4 plus........

More pics of races in Melbourne.
Those OZs are awesomely friendly people. Their favourite Quote" No worries Mate...." No magic.... Just being friendly, smile and be polite goes a long way.....
If you look closely, their driver stand do cater for handicap racers. They use the home grown alleycat AMB system - Using computer generated voice to call out the drivers for heats/finals. Very systematic and punctual. No wonder they can have 5-6 classes of race per meet. Gas Expert, Gas Novice, Stock, Super Stock, Modified and Mini Cooper racers
Notice the car from one of their top racer. Except for the cooling fan, he basically used out of the box parts - Plastics and FRPs to good effect. He taught me that setting and race craft is important. You do not need those expensive blings to be competitive and he proved it by emerging champion in the stock class.

Race in Kuching 1989
My first rc race in 1989 at the holiday inn/sarawak plaza carpark. The car circled in the pic is my car.. I won the race too. Beginners luck if people may say. I kept the car, never wanted to sell it, because it was really expensive back then when i bought it with my 1 year saving allowance. The last pic is the car today. Went thru some restoration and everythings fine. Its a Kyosho Turbo optima mid.
Cheers!
