Racing Near Lawrence/KC/Topeka area

Hey guys! My name is Nick Kenning and I'm a freshman up here at KU. I used to race at HP hobbies in Hutchinson and stopped racing about a year ago. I'm ready to get back into it and I'm wondering where "the place to be" is for indoor electric offroad is around here...let me know where to go! Thanks guys!

I've been to Chilli many times...was just hoping there was somewhere closer!!!

So what's "the class" to race around here?

Aaron P 09-10-2006 07:40 AM

Yep. Unfortunatly, Chilli is the closest indoor track. We have an outdoor track in Topeka, and the last race of the season is next week, Sept. 16th. 1/8th buggy is our biggest class. There will be a few of us running in Chilli this winter, mainly because it's half an hour closer for us than Hutch. I still can't believe that there's not an indoor track closer.

What about the place in blue springs with the tiny track and pits underneath it in the basement? I went there once, is it still in existance? I believe it was called "blue vue"

No. Sorry to say. Closed spring of '05. Steve had awsome turnouts that last year too. 50-70 entries a week when I was running up there.

You could always come out to fastlane and race some carpet.

Aaron P 09-10-2006 08:41 PM

Yes I could, and I may, but myself, I am HIGHLY biased toward off road. Carpet racing for me is a LAST resort. I'm such an offroad junkie, I'll drive an extra hour to run offroad over carpet. Sad huh?

No, I feel pretty much the same way, offroad is where its at in my book. I'll be racing in Chilli this winter as well.
