Indy Slots - VTA Racing (among others)
#1

A small number of us are trying to get a Vintage Trans Am [ http://www.usvintagetransam.com/ ] off the ground here in Indianapolis at Indy Slots RC Track. We are racing on Friday nights for now, but we could also race Wednesday nights or Saturday afternoons if there was enough interest.
Here are a few pictures from last Friday night:

mine:

These cars look awesome driving around the track. I had so much fun I am focusing most of my RC attention to getting this class advanced/promoted and dialing in my car.
There's another Indianapolis location for racing VTA as well: Bob, the RC guy at HobbyTown on the north side of Indy, has started this thread: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=220941 They have a great selection of the parts needed for VTA racing.
And if you want to watch a video of a VTA race (ignore that the cameraman focused on the last place car), go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfpH5z330z0
Come join us!

I've heard that there is usually a decent turnout of 1/12 pan cars on Wednesday night (not sure). I've only been racing on Friday nights. The 2 classes that have been showing up lately are Tamiya Mini-Coopers and 1/10 touring cars running USVTA rules (see here for USVTA information - http://www.usvintagetransam.com/). They also get guys running 1/18 4wd trucks on the road course. Not sure what rules they are running.
I suggest that you swing by to check out some of the racing or call Indy Slots at 317-787-7568 (http://www.indyslots.com/). Check out their website for their racing calendar.
Last week we had 7 cars in the Vintage Trans Am class. Expect to have another good showing this week. Also, if you can't make it to slots during the week, there will be parking lot road course racing at Hobbytown USA North located just east of Castleton Square mall.

I've heard/read online that there should be at least 5 people running Vintage Trans Am at slots tomorrow. One more racer just needs to paint a body, but I expect him to be there too.
Friday racing is 2 heats and a main, plenty of practice time between heats. See everyone at the track.

Figured I'd bump this thread up a bit.
We've had enough Vintage Touring class cars this summer so far to have a heat every Friday night. Should be the same again this Friday. Many of us have been running Lipo/21.5 combo which seems to be fast without being too fast at Indy Slots. I actually dropped a few teeth on Friday to see if my laps times would improve.
Changing from 4-cell/stock has required me to rethink my driving at Slots. I certainly miss the drag break I was getting with my stock motor/speedo combo. However it forced me to work on my setup which is never a bad thing.
If you haven't had a chance to check out why this class is so fun, come out and watch this Friday.
