As a long term, it's really worth to get one. My Hudy lathe had been with me for nearly 2 years lar... But, as a start in RC, it's really better to buy/do lathe/cuttting by later!
Raymond: I think you'd better ask for one stop shop service since after lathe cut, you still have to tune the timing and run-in the brush. That's what I did before I got my lathe.

Timing needs to be changed after true the comm?

Thanks, Speedome did the cut for me. I probably will buy one after I upgraded my radio and servo. It will take some time.

I don't know whether Speedome had tuned the timing for me or not. I will check with them again. I think the orginal hood position had not been changed.

Raymond, I don't know the internal gear ratio of TBII but your final gear ratio with 23T should be ~4.9->5.3 just like DTM mentioned before! So, in your case, you may use smaller pinion in order to gain some torque... On the other hand, you can also use a spur gear as large as possible! (Oh, don't be too large and come out of the chasis!) Hope this helps!

Thanks,
drive ratio of EVO2 is 2.125. I am using spur/115, pinion/43. The total ration should be 5.68. Should be within range.

I got another spur/116 and pinion/47. Also within range. I may try larger spur gear later.

No, not really, but you do have to run in your brushes again before you get the perfermance back.

Not always a must. But since the comm will become trimmer after cut and new brushes are replaced, the rev and current drawn will change. I would usually measure the current drawn and revolution to get the optimum condition. Timing might need to be adjusted. So a motor checker is always working with the comm lathe.

Just my 2 cents

Raymond: Stock motor cannot change timing! Your Xenon is a stock!

Congratulation. At that time, you'd save your car -- too early for me to aim at the new target.
