Still resting on my garage. I visited EGR most of the time. But it seems that EP is going to heat again. Many good cars have been launched. Perhaps I might get a Type-T or X-Ray.

Any you? TC3?

A simple question: How do you know you gear your car right? I just make use of observation - when the car reached its full speed at the 3/4 of the longest straight road of the track, you're almost there. I know some ppl measure the temp of the batteries. How about you guys?

diva, i gave up my TC3.
i digged out my old chassis and rebuilt the old YM34. i will run this car until i finish with the new cars.
i havent been to EGR for GP for almost a month. i spent more time in EP lately.

Not much new. New batch of Corally armatures have arrived. There are still plenty of 28R available on Monday.... but looking at how the temp is dropping we may be running 24Rs instead!

Look at the colour of the brush after a full speed run. If only just the very tip has just started to discolour then its is about right! Lots of burnt marks.... drop a tooth on the pinion. No burnt marks....... go up a tooth on the pinion!!

We are going to PYC on Saturday this week because Mr Dick is still in France. Also Saturday is better for Jong Sau Lo etc. will you go Saturday?

Diva: I think I used the same method as yours and it works for me: the car reaches top speed after running 1/4 of the long staight...

ernestf: stock this Saturday? I'm no good at stock.... (questionable if I'm good at modified too!! ) but its fun!

some information want to share with you about gearing.

first you need to understand the torque output of electric motor. the theory is that at zero RPM the motor generates greatest torque while at high rpm it has less torque.

i.e. you can actually over gear a motor but be sure you dont use full throttle at the straight to avoid extreme power comsumption. the brushes problem that you have is actually caused by loading the motor at high RPM at most of the time. i.e. high rpm = higher friction between brushes and com = high temp at com area.

you can try over gear a motor at least 3 to 4 tooth but be sure you only apply 60% of throttle at the straight. only use full throttle when you need to overtake the other cars but you can only do this once or twice in a battery pack run. with proper throttle control, your motor should run cooler so do your battery pack.
