@SC, I should have been clearer. Knowing where my postcode is, cracker is not a term I hear over here AT ALL. In fact I've only ever heard it during Chris Rock comedy specials. (Yes, he of the slapped fame)
It's perhaps rather difficult to judge offensiveness with my limited experience. I hardly interact with white people and I don't want to start beef with the white expats here for obvious reasons.
The n-word has of course spread mostly due to rap/hiphop music/other forms of entertainment starring black people. Somehow, with very few blacks in my country, I think most people have figured out enough not to get their heads kicked in.
Obviously, nigh on a decade of Catholic schooling has inculcated good manners in me.
