3s in the 4WD SCT Class?

Just want to hear some opinions about this. Tracks across the country are starting to allow this and it really does make sense. The class has changed and we’re now pushing our 2s packs to the limit.

As you all know, 4x4's really are battery killers. This would not only solve that problem, but hopefully draw more people to the class as a result. The whole idea is to run a low kv motor (2500-3300) paired with a 3s to decrease battery strain and increase total run times. I've read that some guys are getting 20 minutes off a 5000mah 3s!

I don't want to start some kind of riot, just want to hear what you guys think.

For proof, here's a clip of our old SCTE running on 3s with a 6.5t (3400kv). Power-wise it looks just like a 2s. It just lasts a whole lot longer and you won't puff your batteries.

It would be hard to get that accepted unless bigger races like nationals etc adapted this as an exception. People aren't going to buy new equipment unless it can be ran everywhere, or what is the point. As a former pro4 driver I agree and see the benefit as I have destroyed numerous batteries.

I understand that part. People are started to contact ROAR to see what they say about this. I'm mostly just talking about doing this at a local level, allowing it at our GA tracks.

I think it is a no brainier. 2S Batteries in 4WD SCT is ridiculous IMO. It's causes unnecessary high costs on the RC racer.

HCRCR will be allowing "Open" Battery sizes in the near future. (After the Triple Crown Finals.

Completely agree and it's good to see track directors taking this in, maybe more will follow and ROAR will approve it.

This is great news! Like Kevin said it's great to see that you approve of this. Looking for forward to running 3s! http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_6666.gif
