Hey Guys,
What's the status of the track these days? Classes run, regular following, layout photos, etc?

The track is still there and being run on. Shon, the track owner, is going to be out of town for a few weeks, so there won't be any racing during that time. Once he gets back he will probably start having at least one day to race/practice during the week (has been Thursday in the past). He is also having a money race The Sweetwater Slam Oct. 17th. You can signup for the race here http://events.rcsignup.com/events/di...nt.cfm?ID=4601

What 4wd SCT needs is to allow 3s setups vs. 2s to end the frustration of puffed batteries and "flaming out" before the end of a 10min main. Question was floated around and I don't think any of the local track owners care, and no one in the southeast gives two shits about ROAR. We had a pretty good sized group about a year ago but many of those guys (including myself) switched over to etruggy for outdoors.
I'd like to get back into 4x4 SCT running indoors and smaller tracks. Was ready to get it back out but my ESC died and needs to get RMA'ed

Even at 2s they have plenty of power as the wheel size limits traction way before you max out power. Power is the total wattage which is voltage x amps. so a 3s with a lower Kv motor will have the same watts but less amps. Amps are what causes you to need a huge mah battery on 2s (for me it's at least 6500mah to make 10mins where a 3s would only need to be 4500-5500 to make it no sweat. Plus higher amps cause more heat, which leads to more electronic failures.

Well, I'm taking a wild guess here that a lot of 4wd truck owners already have those 2S lipos and are geared for them since they were told 3S wasn't allowed per ROAR rules. That was the overall reasoning behind shortening it to 8 minutes. Plus, it would suck if I had to buy $60 worth in more lipos

Yes and No. The track is currently closed for resurfacing, and Shon (the track owner has some family obligation he's taking care of which is delaying the resurface work. Follow Sweetwater on Facebook, that will be one of the first places Shon will announce that the track is ready to be run on again.
