Default A day off without racing, what could happen?

Not sure why the urge hit me, but a couple weeks ago I was watching a youtube vid about Thermoforming and thought it looked cool. Convinced my wife it was for something else and ordered about 50 sheets of plexi. Here's my first attempt today at making a buggy body.....

Here's the original body.......

Its not perfect by anymeans...... the paint job was a rush just to see how good it turned out..... compaired to the proline its not bad for under a dollar.

That one is .20 plexi but I have .30 which is what I'll probably use from now on. The 20 works but its just a little more flexible than the proline. I think 30 is just about the same.

If anyone has a old body thats not in too bad of shape I can probably copy it. Another thought I have is my body for my academy is a little tight, thinking of making a mod or two. Oh yeah and a hood scoop needs to be added

the plaster worked great, set up in 15 minutes, but just before it was solid I could mold it. If you notice the body I used had a cutout for a fan made a nasty mold, but I was able to file it down pretty easy. I'm planning on making a bigger vacuum box now that I know its not that hard, and order some 18" plastic so I can do a TC body.

You can make some lightweight off-road bodies Randy.

You gotta make Gene a body for his X-6 that truly looks like a Turtle Shell!!

I think the best part of it is, that from putting the plastic on the frame, until I was finished painting was 30 mins. That mold I made of my old body will last probably forever, so now I can pop out some bodies anything I need one.
