+1, after all the bonehead things i've said on this forum this single thread started by him makes most of mine forgetable. Now if he would just throw something at someone i would drop even more into oblivion

I was there & raced in the event. I saw the spectacle of the 1/5th scale racers.
I realize they were trying to promote their class, but I have concerns about class & will never promote it. The vehicles looked too dangerous and not only have the ability hurt an adult spectator but could seriously injury a young child. I had several children with me and did not feel comfortable having them close to 1/5th scale event. There are not enough barriers around that track & the vehicles are simply too large and over powered. You did not gain a fan last weekend I personally feel that part of the event was a waste of time. I realize they were trying to promote their class but I personally think it was a failure & it may have sealed the fate of this class.

The fact that you may not be interested in 5th scale doesn't make it a waste of time. If I hit someone with my 1/8th scale on-road car at 55mph I am sure I'd do some damage to that person as well.

Attitudes like the ones displayed in this thread is what makes people not even want to participate in any type of racing!

Right.... you are so lost, I don't agree. Any place that races 1/8th scale on road has barriers, there are even barriers at the off roads tracks, at least enough to slow the vehicles down somewhat, even the 1/5th scale on road & oval tracks have barriers. The 1/5th scale track showed none of that. To me, and I am ENTITLED TO MY OWN OPINION, the vehicles and the class are better suited in a slightly different arena. The expo was a waste of time to me as the GCS could have been done with their program a little earlier then they did. As I finished my racing & corner working and left the property at 12:30am Sunday morning and had been there since 7am Saturday morning. They were STILL racing when I left.
I still stand by my opinion WASTE OF TIME! Over priced over powered, under delivered as an entertainment value. 1/8th scale Truggy was way more entertaining and looked faster.......Buts thats just my opinion also.

It is true that most 1/8th scale tracks are NOT designed nor safe for 1/5th scale to run on. That is just an insurance catastrophe waiting to happen. I have nothing against 1/5th scale RC's but everything has its place and a 1/8th scale track is not the place for them. A track like Psycho Nitro Blast is more set for them with the high barrier walls. If you dont think everything has its place then your more naive then this thread makes you out to be. Soon as someone injures someone bad because the proper safety precautions aren't in place then maybe youll see where people are coming from...sucky part is it will be too late.

I agree 100% that there is a proper place for racing and it should be safe for everyone. What i had an issue with was all the bashing against the 1/5th scale guys. No biggie. I will continue to have fun racing my 1/8th on-road and my 1/5th scales.

What you obviously fail to understand is The 1/5th scale race was scheduled 3 months in advanced of the GCS rasce every even being thought of racing at VRP. We were rushed along so the GCS race could stay on schedule so we really didn't get to race persay.

As far as the 1/5th scales being dangerous. Yeah they weigh 30 lbs . Yeah they are over powered. Should they be raced? HELL YEAH. If you are so concerned about your kids then you need to teach them to stay away from the track. At no time during the whole day did one car come off the track near a spectator. The track has been reworked to make it even safer. This is also why there is no turn marshals in our races and Absolutely no Kids allowed on the track.

The 1/8th scales are just as dangerous. I have a nice cut and bruise on my ankle from turn marshalling Sat. Do I think they should be banned from racing ? Hell no. Everything has it's place. Thats why the 1/5th scalers have there own track.

I not only have 1/5th scales I also have a slash and truggy I race. So I have a little bit of everything. They are all a blast to race.
So I'm not biased either way.

There is more to what was going on Saturday than any one on this board knows. All the bugs have been worked out so there won't be a dual event again. It's water under the bridge and time to move on to bigger and better things. I had a Blast Saturday.

Come out to VRP to the first race of the 1/5th scale series and I promise you will see a much more organized race.

See ya at the track.
