I will be running a 17.5 BMI DB12R with a Tekin RS ESC and Tekin 17.5. I have some 4600's to power the thing. I just don't know when I will have the money to get the motor and ESC.

Do they have a brushed class? I have a 27t motor or do I need to run 19t. What about batteries? Any limit on capacity of them?

17.5 should be on par with a 27t at least according to ROAR rules... I cant say for sure... But I know that Coop's 17.5 car was close to or as fast as a 13.5 touring car when he ran it at prime time. So who knows? I'd say stick with what you got for now.

What kind of servo should I get? I think my car can run either a regular servo or a little one.

I have to buy a new ESC anyway since I don't have one for the car. Might as well go BL while I am at it.

I have seen 27t brushed motors be able to keep up with the 17.5's. As long as its a 4 cell 4.8v pack, it does not matter.

Trust me 17.5 is way too slow. In 12th scale we need to at least be like the rest of the world and run 10.5, and mod. 10.5 is the minimum.

With a 17.5 you don't even have to let off the gas to turn!

I will have a 10.5, and nothing slower in my GenX.
Maybe I will just practice by myself, and never get to race. That's OK too.

I think once everyone sees how slow the 17.5's are more people will want to race 10.5.

We have seen 17.5's race. On asphalt down the straight at Primetime it was a virtual dead heat in a straight line with a 13.5 and LiPo powered touring car. They are plenty quick for most of us. Most of us can barely drive these things to begin with.

Yes they are plenty quick. Plus there's no reason to dilute the class entries anyway. There's not enough racers as it stands now to justify doing so.

Some say 17.5, some say 10.5

Let's compromise and do 13.5!

Fro those srill living in the brushed world:
17.5=27turn
13.5=19turn
10.5=12turn?

More like this:

17.5 ~ 27T
13.5 ~ 23T
10.5 ~ 19T

Maybe so but that is not what the ROAR rule book says.
