Race News:
You missed some great action in the "A"s at Dover. A battle was fought from beginning to the last lap between Larry Rarer and Troy Pirez Sr in the Nitro Sprints. Troy had Larry covered through out most of the track except going into turn 3. Larry held a tight line lap after lap to keep it close and to swap the lead quite a few times. While dodging traffic on the last lap, Troy made the mistake of going high right in front of the driver's stand. He clipped another car slowing him down enough to allow Larry to get by down low. Larry held on to it all the way to the line. Wesley Powell waited all race for a long tangle between the two but didn't get the luck he was hoping for and had to settle for 3rd.
In Nitro EDM, David Carlbert found the setup and blasted way out into the lead, until something happened . But he was so far out front that he held on to the win when the clock stopped ticking. Maybe he's a ringer.. Who knows he had a rough time in Nitro Late Model. He didn't make it through the first race and it was not a pretty sight from what I saw. Guess the win takes the edge off! We must give David Hall a round of applause as a true racer. Despite breaking both ankles only a few weeks ago he showed those young guns how to suck it up and race. Taking 2nd while driving from one end of the track. Its a long ways to the other end! Robert Pletcher rounds out the podium.
Nitro Late Model hasn't been raced much at Dover until the track was tilled and smoothed recently.. And this event saw Troy Pirez Jr lay down some blistering laps. 6.92s in the heats helped him take TQ. Troy Jr was out laying it down during the main and dropped out for unknown reasons - guess there's a price to pay for being too fast. This allowed Joe H. to slide up into first with Wes Powell just a second behind him and Larry Rarer coming back from troubles early on to round out the podium.
Head on over to the Points page at FLDOS.ORG and you can see previous week's position and how many position changes each driver made.
With each race, more and more racers are putting their cars down on the track. Come on out and see what you're missing. While you may not win the series, its a good time to get in much valuable experience as next season begins in January.

update
The series awards will be given out after the race. There will be payouts in all classes run at all 4 events. Payouts will be determined by number of entries we had for each class throughout the season(more racers in the class the more the payout).
Racers that participated in at least 3 of the events will receive their free FDOS t-shirts, and additional shirts will be available for purchase.
In addition to the series awards there will be a couple of raffles for prizes donated by the sponsors:
The drawing put on by the series will only be for series participants. Each race you attended gets you one ticket for the drawing, and no tickets will be sold.
A second drawing, will be put on by SS Raceway, tickets will be available for anyone to purchase for this drawing and all FDOS race 4 participants will receive one free ticket. After all the prizes are given out from this drawing the final draw will be a 50/50 for the money collected from tickets sold.
In all drawings you must be present to win.
And some notes from Ronnie...
It is confirmed that Custom Works Rob Cutman will be here to race their new custom works sprint car. Signing autographs with promotional stuff in hand. Mike from T.V. on the web will be here video taping the event. Crystal Setser will be here photographing and the crew will be writing stories for the Rc magazine. Along with this we will be having alot of stuff going on. It should be an exciting weekend. We will have a swap meet friday, saturday, and sunday so bring your own tables(for swap meet only). There is room for trailers, RV's, to stay for the weekend. Call ahead to confirm any other information at 813-879-1616.

Ronnie's high banked track provided for high paced short track action. With the overcast clouds keeping the sun away the rain was always on our mind.
With 5 tied positions headed into the final race, Nitro EDM was the class to keep an eye on. Qualifying went fairly smooth. Some guys had trouble getting ahold of the daytime track conditions as Ronnie's normally races friday nights.
With the mains set we fired off the round with C-main. Dwight Ryals on a tear from the get go after having some poor qualifying runs leads it almost wire to wire. Aaron Bell in tow the whole time and they swap the lead a few laps. These two bump up to the B-main. In the B Dwight starts out 7th, Aaron 8th.. Dwight works his way up to 2nd, battling Troy Pirez Sr and Mike Boylan for 1st, David Hall just behind them. Boylan and Pirez battle tightly with Troy holding off Boylan at the line. Dwight finishes in 3rd with Hall in tow. Soooo close yet so far. Pirez Sr and Boylan bump to the A. The Rain started just into the first A main (electric sprint mod). So EDM guys did not get to run the A. Had they run the results might be different but Floyd Holton comes out on top by 3 points over Dwight. That is 2 positions!
more to come..
