Building Outdoor carpet track?

Several of us are considering a re-birth of an OUTDOOR track in Delray Beach. One of our ideas is to make it a carpet track with a few plywood jumps. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on if this and if it has been done successfully before?

1.What brand/type of carpet to use?
2. Approx cost per square yard or how to buy and cost?
3. What is best material to use under carpet which is cost effective and durable? How is carpet attached to material under it so cars won't rip up carpet from base?
Anything else you can think of..................Any comments or experience with this is appreciated.

Thanks, Rick

I can understand the ease of dirt but one member today thought that the torque produced by 8th scale buggies would cause the carpet to shift since it is not really anchored to the dirt underneath. Have you heard of plywood being used as a base?
