Thumbs up Palm City Speedway

I heard a rumor about a track west of me so the son and I went to investigate yesterday. Been over a year since I threw a car down on the dirt, have three RC-10's B-3 B-4 and T-3. My last upgrades was 4600 battery's and two new "Pro Tweaked Cobalt 27 stock motors". I spent a couple nights using the Integy lathe on my old motors and recycling battery's, my old 3300 race packs and new 4600's seemed okay after a few cycles with the 30 amp discharger.

Upon arrival we browsed the pits and noticed people had nothing like we had, looked like cell phone car battery's, weird brushless motors, speed controllers and chargers were different too. We decided to give it a try and figured we would be so slow and obsolete that we would have fun racing each other, mind you the kid grew up racing, 26 now. The frequency board still had all the clothspins, I asked if anyone was using them, they weren't, all had gigahertz shit with tiny antenna's transmitting signals to and from satellites in space I reckon. We each grabbed a clothspin, extended the antenna's from our obsolete 27 & 75 MEGA-Z transmitters and had a blast. The B-3 and 3300 battery's, B-4 with 4600 battery's did just fine against all them Alien Critters and we would have registered to race if my finances was better. I chose not to get the T-3 dirty or use the two new motors still in the bags. Both cars suffered from the Brown Dirt Blues hanging up the brushes and didn't have any nylon socks to wrap the motors with.

The owner and people were all great folks, had transponders there, probably forty or so folks showed up to race by 2m. I would have designed the track different, many are done this fashion going left and right as you are on the drivers stand leaving no place for turn marshall's, I prefer away and coming back personally with room between the lanes for marshall's but it was a blast and we'll go back.

I'm too new to post a link for more info on the track and owner. go to
leadfingerrc.com/Palm_City_Speedway ... I grabbed a few pics of the 10th/8th scale track to give you an idea of the layout, red clay might be an option in the future I certainly hope. The 18th scale red clay track is interesting, I know nothing about that class.

I'm going by there Sunday with my son to check it out. I just put a new engine in my RC10GT, but will have to break it in first. I'm going to try to before Sunday.

What type of r/c's do they typically race on the clay track? 1/18 scale? I have a Losi Mini-T. It's only 2wd and it only plugs into the wall.

I agree with Jerry - ouch on that layout.

Dead space is OK folks...you don't have to use every square inch of space.
