Hi Jorge, do you have the 1/5 scale schedule yet? If you need any help with anything, let me know and i'll be glad to help out.

Gee kreidel thanks for just leaving the rest of the racers out in the dark. I think that was a very selfish statement to make!!!! You should ba ashamed of yourself.

Kreidel, I will be more than happy to let you take my 1/5 scale car for a few laps around FT Speedway, because I can assure you that you will come down with 1/5 scale fever!

Despite large amounts of 1/10 and 1/8 racers, there is an enormous need for a 1/5 scale track in the state of Florida and it will be a real shame if 1/5 scale is not ran there. With Superior Hobbies selling a couple of entry level 1/5 scale cars every week in the Orlando area, there is a growing need to race them, and FT Speedway can fill this void.

If you have never seen a 1/5 scale car run, you're in for a real treat. At the 1/5 Worlds a few weeks ago, 1/5 scale lap times were within almost 1 second of the lap record set by a 1/8 car.

I race 1/10 scale as well in the FSEARA series, but 1/5 scale is my true passion, it is the closest thing to actually strapping yourself into a real race car!

1/5 scale is growing faster today than it ever has in the past, this is mostly due in part to the IFMAR 1/5 scale world championships being held in the USA for the very first time this year and also there are two new importers of FG products and HARM is doing a lot to set up dealers throughout the nation.

This has never been a real concrete thing in Florida and in the past getting a 1/5 scale event organized has seemed next to impossible up until a few months ago when FT Speedway and the Swamp opened up.

1/5 scale is on the rise, and the time is now! At FT Speedway, I will let any capable experienced driver run my FG Evo 1/5 scale car to get a feel for it and to help promote the class, because I guarantee after they step off the drivers stand, the next thing they will do is buy one!

1/5 scale is a real drivers class, they are only rear wheel drive and there are no turn marshalls, this is mostly for safety. Even though 1/8 scale cars will reach upwards of 80+, 1/5 scale reaches upwards of 65+ and the cars are 10 times heavier thus they carry more intertia.

I was not trying to offend anyone so dont take it the wrong way.

Accord, I would love to race 1/5 scale but the money involved is what would hold back that class from ever becoming mainstream. I am all about the realistic racing, that is why I race nitro over electric. It is just that much closer to a real car and 1/5 would be that much closer. If you can get a class of 1/5th scale great, I know its gotta suck not to be able to race that car.

John Malin, I have some good friends that race electric but honestly electric racers have twice as many places to race so when a track this big opens I dont want to sit around and watch. And when an electric guy steps down from the drivers stand grumbling about nitro guys making the track slick I just bite my tounge and think we are all family. Also think about all the work you put Jorge and his crew through making him shorten that beautiful large track down so you guys can run your electric? I am sure he doesnt mind, he is a awesome guy. I am far from selfish, I just gotta go to bat when its my turn.

That is just an old myth, 1/5 scale short term and in the long run is much cheaper than any form of competitive R/C racing, be it 1/10 electric, 1/10 200mm or 1/8 on road.

Yes, it is hard to believe, but if you really sit down and do the math you will see 1/5 scale is the cheapest form of competitive r/c racing.

People assume 1/5 scale is expensive, but that is anything but the case. It is much cheaper to run 1/5 scale, a complete 1/5 scale set up will cost less than that of a competition 1/10 touring car with all the best electronics.

1/5 scale is very cheap, but unfortunately many local dealers which do infact sell 1/5 scale jack up the price to extreme levels, for example there is a hobby shop near me selling a 1/5 scale FG EcoLine for $2500 when the same thing can be purchased online for $750! This is what is killing the class, local hobby shops that are trying to take advantage of people who don't know any better. And that 750 price is complete with everything except electronics. All 1/5 scale cars use the same engine so it basically comes down to your skill as a driver.

I will convince you to get a 1/5 scale, one way or another .

I agree with what mark said, we had a blast and put on a good show with only two 1/8th scales. I can't wait to get out there again.

I actually got you guys on video so if you send me your email I will send over alittle of you guys running. I got nothing but love and I love running over there but I was honestly just messing around when I said forget everything but the 1/10 and 1/8. I have to be nice to Accord so I can drive his 1/5th And if I do get into them then he will have hell to pay with my wife.

Since pictures of FT Speedway are scattered all over RCTech and are impossible to find, I decided to gather all of the pictures of the track into one post, credit for the pics goes to 'kreidel', 'dgill', the owners of FT Speedway, and Jarrod Pilone (for assembling the panorama pic):
