Default What are your thoughts of a permanent indoor carpet track in Tampa area?

Im in a position to acquire a air-condition werehouse in the Tampa area big enough to have a very good size indoor track. This is not going to be something like RPM , just a indoor track for everybody to use. Its going to be available around April or May but I want to know what the interest would be before I go foward. It will be on-road and oval with plenty of pit space. Let me know your thoughts.
Im not doing this to make money either just to have fun and have a nice place to race.

Thanks

Hell yeah! worth the travel a few times a year to practice on the carpet!

Plus you may never know I am pretty sure you may get a regular following that will turn into monthley races for you!

Marcos.J: Since you are not trying to make money the big question is how much are they going charge you a month for the space? Your definately going in with the right attitude because it will be hard to make money with an indoor carpet track down here. Then how much are you going to have to charge for racing in order to keep the place? The less you charge the better chance you have of actually getting a turnout to support the cause. Coming from the Northwest carpet is my favorite type of racing. I always get excited to hear of a carpet track opening up, and I'll be there at least once a month. After I get back from Afghanistan that is. However everytime a carpet track does open up they close the doors a month or two later due to lack of participation. All I can say is good luck and I hope it works out for everybody. I'll be back in ten months(fingers crossed) and hopefully there is consistant carpet racing.

Happy Holidays everybody.

Hope you can make it happen, and I would think opening a hobby shop inside would help pay the bills where the racing doesn't. Offer a yearly membership like the skateparks do and I'll make the drive down on the regular .

My suggestion on memberships was biased towards saving money for people in the long run, at least if you plan to have it open on the regular for practice during the week. Maybe you could get one of the other guys already running a hobby shop down there to set up a spot inside the place and that way you are just providing the service, not worrying about paying someone. Either way gimme a call I'd like to hear what your planning. If I can help I will try, I do imagine if you go through with it you will be working on the deal quite a bit, even after it is up and running.
