Traxxas makes a nice truck that is for sure. Rossman also found a Redcat 4x4 truck for $200 with radio that is actually pretty nice. We will have a class for the 4 wheel drive short course trucks so there is no reason we can't do this as well.

There are several low cost ways to get started. One is the traxxas bandit. We run them with the 12t brushed motor they come with. They work great, are fast and easily handle a 2 cell lipo.

Classes sound great! I donít currently have a brushed setup in my buggy. Can we bring buggies that fit most of the rules but have a 17.5 motor instead of the titan for now?

We are definitely going to have a class for 17.5 brushless motors so there will be no need to purchase a titan 12t motor if you do not want to.

Guys this is grassroots racing, We are trying to recreate what it was like to race in the 80's and 90's. Because of covid 19 hobby parts, tires, bodies are difficult to find. There has been delays from Traxxas, Arrma, HPI, and a host of other manufactuers. Because of this, we are doing our best to keep costs down and not require certain bodies at this time. Once things go back to normal, we will have certain bodies for each class. Right now they will be optional and you can run whatever body came with the vehicle you are running.

Here is an update of what is occurring:
  • We will be posting ALL of the classes and rules this Saturday, October 24, 2020.
  • Some of us will be going to the track site to test the surface, as we have never run on it before.
  • The following week the new transponder system will be set up and tested on site.
  • The game plan is to have our first race in November.

Ok so we went to the site of the track, as you can see from the pics, the parking lot is as big as a Disney parking lot, maybe bigger. We have numerous choices, and decided on one that has the most lighting and best
asphalt.

As far as traction is concerned, a bandit straight out of the box with a 2s lipo and stock tires was on rails. No need to do anything. Was very surprised just how well it hooked up with the stock rubber.

Next weekend we test the lap counter.

Looks good!!!

I have 4 jumps ready. They are all 1/4 inch plywood, three of them are 4x3 and one is a short jump 4x1.5. All are 4 inches high.

it will make short course more fun as the jumps are not big, but they do upset the truck enough to make it hard to do at full speed.

it would be awesome if anyone has plow discs we can use for the side asphalt area of the jumps since they are not as wide as the lanes; experience has proved that those discs will really upset the vehicle at high speeds, so youíll want to take the jump instead.
