Default Joey “Batman” Perez Benefit Race at Triple Nickel, Saturday, April 20th!!

What better way to enjoy Easter weekend than to help someone in need! All proceeds will go toward supporting Joey's recovery. An important fact as we head to Lake Park for the Force race this weekend - Joey used to be the LP president and did a lot for that track over the years.

You won't want to miss the $1 a ticket raffle to win products or services from our great sponors! Note: Additional sponsors may join the cause.

You can also donate here; the same site that all proceeds from this race will go toward: https://www.gofundme.com/wcb3y-joey-perez

A little more about Joey and his situation:

Joey "Batman" Perez was seriously injured in a motocross racing accident at Spyder MX and flown to the nearest hospital on March 15th. He sustained a broken wrist, ribs, and severe head trauma resulting in some memory and speech loss. Adding insult to injury, Joey and his family unfortunately do not have health insurance or any short or long-term disability insurance. He has a long 12+ week expected recovery period within the hospital and/or with in-home care, so the remote control (RC) racing community has come together to help a fellow racer in need. Proceeds from the benefit race at Triple Nickel Raceway will go to Joey and his family to help with the loss of income during this difficult time.

Batman, as he is known in the RC world, has been racing for 36 years. He started in the hobby with a Tamiya Hornet in 1981. In 2002, he moved from New York to Florida and started racing off-road in the Tampa area. Joey was more than just a friendly and helpful racer, he was part of the track crew at Minnreg that hosted the 2003 IFMAR World Championships and then became the club president at the infamous Hurricane RC Club at Lake Park in in Lutz, FL. Joey helped grow the 1/8th scale nitro boom by expanding the track size and building supercross style tracks at Lake Park. Technical layouts with big air jumps and perfecting the "blue groove" racing surfaces were just a few of his accomplishments while being the Hurricane track president and chief track builder. Joey put more blood, sweat, and tears into the track at Lake Park than most track directors ever do and always provided a top-notch facility for the racers in FL. Joey joined the Dialed-RC Hobbies team in 2009 and has been the East Coast representative ever since. He has raced many regional and national races across the Southeast for the last 15 years. On top of all the RC racing and track building he did, his true love was motocross. On the weekends, when he was not wrenching on or racing his RC cars, Joey was rebuilding or racing one of his dirt bikes. Joey is a true off-road racer regardless of the type. Even though he loves racing and is super competitive, he enjoys hanging with and helping fellow racers the most. Joey is a very proud man and would never ask for help but is always first to offer help when someone needs it. So please, let’s all help him out now and pay him back for his many years of service in the RC hobby. Get well soon Batman!
