The new car looks to have some very significant tuning advantages over the competition. It's a very clean design with very fast easy tuning options not typically available on an F1.

Thinking ahead to the kit options from Fenix... what would be the recommend diff from Fenix for this beauty for tight grey CRC Ozite carpet track. Historically, traction can be high enough to flip F1 cars at my local track but we haven't proved that any of the current gear or ball diff designs are superior yet (spools suck however - tight slow corners). Even if it's just a matter of opinion or preference, I'd like to hear some thoughts from Fenix for the Mistral 2.0 I will add that I'm sold on the aluminum chassis however.

Our F1 (which we never officially released) has this type of rear end. IMO a game changer for the F1 class. I have a feeling that a certain someone running at the nats a couple of years back fed some feedback back to Fenix 😜 The ability to set the roll center much lower than a traditional pivot car is a big advantage on black carpet since the car is less prone to traction rolling. This gives you the ability to run much more aggressive set ups. On asphalt, the car generates superior traction as well. Side bite is much improved over other cars. The V-link rear was one of the option I had when I start drawing Mistral 2-0, as the feedback I got from the drivers of G56, our pancar, was amazing... so... I said to myself : "Why making another F1 'equal' to herself... let's put some bigger steak on the grill"... ;-) First time out, assembled at the track, was at the Swiss Indoor Master, ETS carpet. Driver was a top notch one, Roman Pichler (sadly he's officially retired, as he drive a couple of time a year) put the car in the A-main... Then we went to ETS#2, again carpet... A main again, this time with Matteo Berlincioni. Worst point was we were having just one prototype and no spare parts.. ;-) The asphalt tests, even with the Volante ETS tires, (remember, ETS use to race in big 1/8 tracks with super low ratio, often lower than 2...), gives a sort ot "touring" feeling. Car is way more stable and easier to drive, even if you're not a gentle-on-the-throttle-guy. Definitely, I'm rather happy |

Speaking personally, my feeling is on the gear diff, most of the time. Carpet, asphalt, wet... The sphere diff give me the feeling of a "lighter" car, I'd say more agile. But the gear diff give me the feeling of a certain "ground effect". Lap time might be on the same level, but... I'm getting older, and I prefer a realiable setup toward a potentially-faster-but-not-that-easier setup. Bear in mind that we relay mostly on Volante and Ride GR (F/R or GRX front) and when we go on carpet, is 99% ETS version |
