Sorry, I had my F's and S's messed up originally. I've edited the original post. The FS is the better of the two recievers, thus the $10 extra.

Sorry for the mix up, completely my error.

Both RX work great and the 3PM is a great radio for someone who doesn't want or need a 3PK system.

Just ask Kevin K, he has driven both TXs and I'm sure he is just as happy with the PM as he would be with the PK.

Thanks for the correction. I definitely had it backwards. i usually read and re-read my post a couple times to make sure I don't make errors like that. I must have been slacking off yesterday!

Dark.....Dont let it happen again....

Socko....Yeah I cant be any happier with my 3PM 2.4GHz its worked great....with both the FF and FS rec. It has all the features that 90% of the racers out there use and its super light weight....just think when I put a Lipo pack in there.

When I first started looking at the 3PM, I was shocked to see all its features. I was hard pressed to see what my 3PK did, that it doesn't. Now that I've got it, I'm even happier with it. I thought from all the photos I had seen, that I would be stuck using numbers to I.D. my cars again(ala Hitec Lynx 3D days...), but I was thrilled to see that the radio does allow for model names. Only three digit, but thats better than numbers only.

I was also impressed with the size of the FF receiver. Its not Spektrum micro size, but its small enough that it will fit easily into anything I run.

And the grip feel is excellent. Superior IMO to the the 3PK. Then to top it all, the weight is excellent.(I too plan on going Lipo for the transmitter...as soon as I find one I trust)

Very impressive system, I can't wait to try it out in race conditions.

Official response from Futaba if you need some assurance. I asked the same question a while back.

Yes, the 3PM 2.4GHz will work with either the R603FF or R603FS. And both receivers are DSC compatible. The only difference between them is that the FS version has DAD ( Dual Antenna Diversity) which means it has an internal antenna that the FF version does not.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support team at 217-398-8970 opt 2, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Dark.... Glad you like the radio.

Hey everybody.....That JohnnySocko guy works at Great Planes so hes like just as good as a Futaba Rep if not better ....so feel free to launch any and all complaints his way along with any questions..... I know hes helped me out with a bunch of questions that I had before I got my 3PM....and he spends enough time on here so he can get most questions answered quickly as well.

I bought the 3PK + FASST combo from Tower 6 weeks ago and the FASST TX/RX was shipped out to me promptly, but the 3PK itself was put on backorder. I finally got fed up with waiting on the 3PK after Tower changed the ETA from late April to late May.

I did a little internet surfing this week and found www.brucknerhobbies.com. Not only do they specialize in Futaba and had the 3PK (transmitter only) in stock, but they also had good prices and outstanding customer service. That's saying a lot from someone like me who is usually hard to please. From now on, I'll buy all my Futaba stuff through them. Check 'em out.

Default Spektrum Pro DSM vs. Futaba FASST

Im planning on picking up the Futaba 3pk with either the Spektrum Pro DSM or the Futaba FASST system. I understand that the Spektrum stays on a single available channel whereas the FASST hops through all channels every 2 milliseconds. Conceptually, the single channel approach seems better but practically, I doubt it will make any difference. However, the FASST system (according to Futabas website) handles PPM, FM, and HRS modulation. Spektrum has a completely different module and receiver that it sells for HRS modulation only. So it seems Futaba is one up on Spektrum in this regard. Most places seem to sell the Spektrum Pro DSM module and receiver for about $10-20 more than the FASST, which is negligible. What are your experiences with these systems? Any other differences that are worth considering? Anyone have problems with either of them?

One last thing the Futaba 3pk with Spektrum Pro DSM is readily available and in-stock with many online vendors. Almost nobody has the 3pk with FASST I only found one vendor on Ebay (for $460!). This means I have to buy the 3pk w/no module (not in-stock anywhere that Ive seen!) and then the FASST module/receiver combo (available). So do you know any online vendors that have the 3pk w/no module in stock?

I am disabled and I have to use a stick radio. I have to steer with my left hand. I am wondering if I can use Futaba's 6EX 2.4 GHZ 6 channel airplane radio in an R/C car on asphault or carpet? I would use the rudder to steer with. I know there are a few stick radios for cars but they all have the steering on the right stick.

Thanks.

Spektrum Pro DSM vs. Futaba FASST

From what I've seen the Futaba FASST is more reliable, at least indoors with electric cars.
