Just because Xray chose to keep the same name of T4 with different Year Versions, doesn't mean we don't need new threads...

Compare Tamiya's 416->419 cars. They are all the same, with subtle differences, yet get new threads.

Honestly, I was hoping for a little more...I guess until it gets released we won't know but all of these changes highlighted seem like they will only have a minor affect.

As posted by Michi Reupp on the FB Xray T4 Group:

All-new chassis design with new motor mount plate position for further flex adjustment

All-new top deck redesigned to fit the new layshaft bulkheads and motor mount with more center position

All-new ESLP extremely short low profile shocks with 4mm lower design for improved stability of the car

All-new super low profile shock towers to accomodate the new ESLP shocks

All-new 51mm front ECS drive shafts optimized for maximum compromise between steering and stability of the car

All-new motor & layshaft bulkhead position more in centerline for less chassis roll

All-new motor mount plate features new extra holes more in rear for improved traction of the car

I think we will see a huge difference in handling with these changes. Think about what a .5 mm change does? Its huge. Lower towers, lower shocks, centralized motor are pretty big.

Looks like changes that will keep Xray more competitive with Awsomatix :tire:
( cant wait to race against these newer better cars in VTA )

JEFFs SC10 09-09-2017 11:57 AM

I'm getting one from ProlevelRC. :)

As someone with 2 Xrays, I hate to say it, but the AMX is stomping everyone, in the slower classes. VTA/USGT. Look at the Wiki page for USGT--AMX dominated in Cleveland.

JEFFs SC10 09-09-2017 10:27 PM

those are more driving classes than anything, I wouldn't say it is totally due to the chassis.

At the last Snowbirds there were A LOT of Xrays in the A mains..

I think the awesomatrix has a very slight advantage pace wise right now and I literally mean SLIGHT !!! Nothing to go all gun ho about !!! But as saying that , in Europe Xray is king in all classes . The awesomatrix doesn't do as good across there as they do here . Better drivers running the car across here maybe ? !! Ive had 3 of those cars until last week . Couldn't handle them anymore !! Car handled great , but with the awesomatrix you gotta live with all the little quirks that comes with the car like slight taps of the boards and ur setting would be off , honestly I don't know what alum they use but I don't think it's 7075 !!! I've stripped 3 bulkheads trying to screw in the top deck screws and no I'm not hulk so I didn't screw them in too tight ! Also the turnbuckles are literally garbage !!! Weak as fuck !!! So u see with the changes that I see Xray has made to their T4 18 I think will literally swing the tide of power back xray's way and balance the playing field somewhat . Good job Xray and looking forward to seeing / driving ur new beast

Don't get me wrong, I love my T4's. Durability being the #1 factor.

It will be interesting what parts will carry over to the new '18.
