If I decide to run WGT-R this would be my kit but XRAY sure didn't invest much with this release.

To be fair, pan cars don't tend to vary that much... See X12 2016-2016-2017, for example, very similar amounts of changes?

I wonder if the new pod bulkheads will allow getting a good ride height with the WGT-R rubber tires? I'm running my X10 in Pro10, it should at least allow running lower ride height with bigger foam tires, which had been a problem before (with the old pod bulkheads being straight off the X12'15).

I'm assuming you can attain the proper ride height with rubber tires by flipping the rear bearing holders over like they show in the presentation. I did this on my X12'17 to run larger foam tires and just bought more ride height shims for the front end.

The fantastic XRAY ball diff and massively superior overall durability keep me from considering any other competitors pan cars.

Yeah, it should give a bigger range of ride heights, but whether it's enough to run rubber tires, would have to be tried.

With my X10'16 Pro10, with 55mm foam tires, the lowest I can get is just over 5mm, and I'd like to run 3-4mm, so I should at least be okay for that! Outdoors, I know people running 63mm tires on their Associated 10R5.1, running at 6mm ride height, thinking they might go down to 5-5.5mm... If I ran 63mm tires, the lowest I would get would be 9mm ride height!!! :lol:

The small plastic bit that the centre shock balls screwed into on the X10'16 were the only weak point on durability, I hope they got rid of that (they did on the X12'16, I believe?).

Their sloppy front end has also been a problem historically, with both the X10 and the X12, but they say that "excess play in the steering block and front upper ball joints was removed", we'll see? :)

It would be a total fail if it can't run WGT-R tires :(

In theory, they could make a set of modified axle carriers as an easy modification, I guess?

LOL, really long screws with giant spacers - unlimited ride height theoretically - but yuk.

Literally just one day after I finished building my X10'16. I don't really mind, since so far it's only planned as a fun car for me for the coming winter, not any racing planned with it. But still... the timing! :D

I was in the same boat with my X12'17 with the X12'18 announced before I even hit the track but I have the same attitude towards it - racing 12th for fun at my local track when enough 12th scalers show up... funny thing happened though - everybody is building a 12th scale now at my track! Fun racing is contagious. I want a car for most every indoor on-road class just in case I see racers having fun :) A few racers in my area have WGT-R's so we'll see.

I've tried something like this on my X10'16: I swapped the pod bulkheads with those from my X12'16, and put longer screws and more spacers...

It sort of worked, but the eccentric clamp move a little bit around the screws, which means that the axle bearings aren't held perfectly aligned, which left the axle binding a bit. I got most of the binding out by loosening the screws a bit, spinning the axle, tighten gently, spin a bit more, tighten some more, etc. :(

The Roche has the right idea, in my opinion: similar eccentric clamps, but their P12, P10/P10W, and F1 have different pod bulkheads, avoiding the need for a pile of spacers.

What I did with my X10 2015 is CNC a carbon spacer underneath the bulkhead, yes this will change the angle of damper and shock as well as rise CG but nothing else I can do beside that. Xray is being lazy with their 2wd on road all these year, front end still sloppy, using 12th bulkhead on 10th, ignoring all the ride height issue and jack up the price every year

I was wondering if the F1 pod plates and hubs would work for wgtr?

It does for the 2016 model, from what I've heard, but I don't know how different the 2018 pod bulkheads are (they've been changed)...
