Thank you Gigaplex. So there's 5x8 studs somewhere in the kit? and i thought they were 5x8 so should be same size?

Yeah apart from the two 5x5 on the rear hubs, all the ball studs are 5x8. The neck is a little bit taller on the 5x8 kit ones versus the hop up ones you linked to. 5x8 means 5mm ball (it's more like 4.8mm) with 8mm long thread, they don't specify the height of the neck in that dimension.

Very helpful Gigaplex. Looking at body and rim choices for a 225mm wheelbase, pretty limited, may try some of the HPI Cup Racer bodies and rims (already have the Tamiya MX-5 and Ride Subaru BRZ). What's the offset on the stock M-07 wheels, and what offset would I need to fit the 225mm Cup Racer bodies (Datsun 240Z, BMW 2002, Civic Type R)?

Screw it..will stick with the two bodies and rims i ordered...for now. Waiting for parts to arrive...some literally on a slow boat from China. It's much harder finding parts these days then what I remember...

Tamiya have been completely shocking with their spare parts availability for the M07. The usual large Asian sites I deal with are always out of stock of parts like the uprights, body posts and other well used parts.

The chassis has been available since late June last year, but you'd think with the parts shortage that the chassis was only released last week.

After a seemingly endless wait for RC Mart shipping to USA, I got my box today. I had ordered a M07 for my 11yo son, to get him less involved with iPad games. This will be an update from his M05 he has had since he was 6yo.

I built it for him before he got home from school today and it runs great for our driveway track (our local carpet track does not race this class).

I set it up for him with a Turnigy 21.5, Tamiya ESC, steering gyro, Blue-Bird MG High-Speed servo, M-grip tires, SFHSS reciever and the rest was a stock setup per the build manual.

I set it up to use 4mm bullet plugs on the battery and it works fine like this, there is plenty of room. That way he can use any of other hard-case the batteries from our other 1/10 scale cars and trucks.

Wow, I ran it to check it out and it is fantastic. I'll have to get one also. My old S-Spec is probably ready to be retired.

He wanted a 'racing' body, so we got the GOPRO Swift. We built the chassis as "MEDIUM" length, I believe that will be correct for the Swift. We will do the body tomorrow.

We started using gyros last year when I put a helicopter rudder gyro on a car to try it. It worked so well I tried it on all of our on-road and off road cars (except the ROAR legal racers). On an unprepared, dirty driveway, the cars can be driven harder (as if we were racing on carpet or a prepared outdoor track). Fun factor is increased considerably.

Good choice, I would recommend the 3 racing alloy upgrades for the C hubs, steering spindles and rear hub carriers from a durability standpoint, they really eliminate some known weak spots (the stock ones are extremely brittle and you can see that by the lack of available stock of spares) A lot of the more proactive clubs around here are allowing people to race with them on as well, there are still a fair few sadly which stick to the "Tamiya Hop Ups only" which will reduce the racing field to he who has hoarded the most spares

Can anyone give me a lowdown on the difference between the newer 54790 shock towers and the older 54761/54762 pieces that came out earlier?

Does the 54790 eliminate the need to change shock shafts as recommended in the manual?

Thanks!

54790 are for the TRF Short Dampers 42273, they're 2.5mm lower than the kit damper stays. I went with the Big Bore Dampers 42291 so also went with 54761/54762, looking at the packages now.

Just got a call from Tower asking how my M-07 build was coming along...nice customer service but a little concerned they have that much time on their hands..lol. Don't even get those calls for my real car. Finally got my package from RC Mart, one more package from Tamiya and i'm ready to resume building...

I'm just a bit confused as the product info of 54790 says to use with 54000 (M-chassis dampers), 42273 (TRF Short), 42291 (M-chassis BB)

Yeah, the towers are lower to make use of the shorter shocks. The stock towers and the original carbon towers require normal TC length shocks to fit properly.
