Default FDR Recommendations

Finally tried 4-cell TC and it was slower than I expected. The car handled great, could drive it anywhere I wanted and tire wear was incredible. We did not have the lap counting system out, so not sure on lap times, but like I said, felt and looked slow. Totally possible we missed the gearing. I've seen a recommendaiton of ~8.2 FDR with a Novak 3.5. What other rations are folks using? I was around a FDR of 10 with a 4.5 and a Reedy 4-star. Assume I need to gear up more and am curious where others are gearing similar brushless motors.

I have run the Novak 4.5 outdoors at West London on rubber tyres in my TC-4 at 7.5 without any problems.

Maybe someone from our club has already mentioned this....but here it goes anyhow.

Our novice class is 4-cell Stock Motor, rubber or foam. Its really helping people getting in learning how to drive with saving a few bucks.

The motors required much less attention, the foams don't wear (some guys are running the same tyres they had 2 years ago). The car does not break as the speed in lowered slightly.

The class as a whole is maybe 1-2 laps slower than Stock-rubber 6-cell. Its a great comprimise as far as a novice class in concerned because once you feel ready, get a 6-cell pack with a set of rubber and your good to go.

The only downside of the class is that once the car is set-up, throttle input is not as important and that "habit" of dropping the hammer and keeping it there just does not work in Stock Rubber (6-cell).

I can't comment on 19T or Mod 4-cell as I don't have experience, but as a novice class - its great. We are even considering increasing the race lenght as we can run 6 sometimes 7 minutes on old beat up 3300's. 7-8 minutes with current 3800s and obviously more with 4200+

Was wondering when will IFMAR give a verdict to this??

I was waiting for them before I set out to buy new cells to replace my nerly 2 yr old ailing 3700s. I can't wait no longer and went for new IB4200 WCe.

Now I hope it'll go 4 cell!!

In about 12 months and only if one of the blocs actually gets round to proposing it. Hopefully, they will also remember to change the weight as well, unlike the 1/12th!

I belive EFRA is voting on it this weekend. If they go 4 cell, then I believe it is just a matter of time before IFMAR does the same. But agree that it will be a number of months off...

I would strongly support a push for 4-cell sedan racing in the stock class.

Stock should be for novice racers. Those who want to go faster can race in 19t or modified.

For modified, I fully support the use of Lipoly. Just my 2cents

If this does get changed we will see 5 turn motors regularly and run time issues with our batteries. Should I put this into an envelope and send it out to anyone?

The Great KARMAK HAS SPOKEN! LMAO!

Such a waste.....

EFRA AGM is on this weekend. I hope they don't vote for 4 cell. Instead make manufactures build better products that will withstand the heat or whatever the problem is with 6 cells!

If they do vote for 4cell then it would much funnier to use the 1/12 touring cars instead

For stock class I think it's good idea since will keep the cost down for people
