Well after most of all the off-road tracks around here closing down I want to get into some type of competive racing (on-road) and here in orlando on-road is huge. Everybody races on-road and there are a good amount of tracks to race. Now the question is which car to get or use my 4-tec. I do not have alot of money and can't spend alot. I was looking at the TA-05 and that looks very good for the price and part support so is that what I sould get or is their something better for the price? Also what tires and inserts should I get? And finally for the power I think I will get a 19t to start so what 19t should I get?

TA05 is an excellant car and Tamiya is known for their quality and performance. For tires, you might want to try Take-Off CS-27 with medium insert. They last long and gives you tons of grip. For motor, most 19T motor are about the same. Check out which is the most popular 19 motor in your area. Probably you might want to get the most popular motor in your area.

Well I'm guessing you plan to race TQ's, Superior, Speedline and Strickland? I would suggest any kind of X-Ray if that's the case because you can get parts everywhere. Tamiya does not have that much support from what I have seen and you don't want to be waiting to order something on raceday. As for tires most everyone around here uses CS-27's or RP-30's. Motors everyone will tell you something different. Hopefully this helps.

Yeah but I don't have the money to get a xray. And I can stock up on parts like arms, suspension pins, and whatever else.

A TA-05 is a good car with lots of potential and hopup parts like a carbon chassis by Xenon Racing and more manufacturers are starting to develope parts for this car. You should als look for a used car on Ebay. There a Yokomo's, Xray, TC3/4's or other high end cars for sale at a smaller price. Good luck with your search.

For the price of a new TA05, you could get a year-or-two Xray plus spares, much more cost effective and a higher specification out of the box, as tcdrvr says.

I'd go for an Xray any day of the week. Wait.... I just did.

If you dont have much cash, pick up a used Factory Team TC3 and get a quick steering servo. The TC3 is durable, quick, and parts are easy to find. If you run stock, the shaft drive may be a better choice. The TA-05 is probably heavy. Go to your local track and see if any of the guys race and win with the TA-05 first.

I don't think the TC3 would be or will be tougher than the TA05.

My money goes to the TA05.Its such an easy car to drive...

Tougher can equate to heavier. I dont think the TC3 is a weak car at all. I think its stronger than most with the graphite parts (not the plastic).

I've seen more breakage from TC3s than from TA05s...I'm based on what I observe. Graphite parts are tough but is also more brittle.

To be fair have you thought about a Losi Jrx-s? They are bullit proof and you should be able to pick up a used one for next to no cash, plus the lads in the Jrx forum on this site will help you set it up so you don't need to spend any money on upgrades!!
