If you're interested in the DynaPulse also see www.spintec.nl for the Battery Manager.

They are completely different devices. The Novak Smart Tray equalizes your pack by discharging each cell to a set cut off voltage. The Dynapulse/Spintec does a pulse discharge to break up crystals that form on the inside of the cells.

In my opinion two completely different pieces of equipment. I happen to use both, here is my routine - it is important to note that I race every other weekend.

Race Weekend
1. I put my battery pack on the Novak Smart Tray to equalize each cell down to .9v
2. After the pack is equalized I charge it on my ICE charger
3. RACE
4. After the race is over I finish discharging the pack by putting it on my Integy 0-30. Now you could discharge it using the DynaPulse but the Pulse takes a VERY long time (up to 5 hrs) to discharge a pack. This isn't feasible at the track so I throw it on the Integy until the lights go out.
5. Let them cool and put them away

Non-Race Weekend
1. I put my battery pack on the Novak Smart Tray to equalize each cell down to .9v
2. After the pack is equalized I charge it on my ICE charger
3. After the pack is fully charged I connect it to the DynaPulse to discharge. As I previously said this takes a LONG time to discharge a pack.
4. Once it is fully discharged I record the data

I have 2 DynaPulses so I can cycle 6 packs per day on the non-race weekend this way. I compare the data from the DynaPulse to what I witness during a race the previous weekend and that is how I decide in what order I will be using the packs for the upcoming race.

To summarize - I use the Smart Tray way more often than I use the DynaPulse, but both pieces of equipment contribute to my overall battery maintenance.

I started using the Dynapulse this year at the Halloween classic in 12th scale in 4-cell modified and the runtime stayed the same and voltage seem to improve and only used two packs all weekend. I used the Intellect IB3800. Charging at 6 amps and discharging at 30 after the run. I have noticed similiar results in touring car. I have seen similiar devices but the dynapulse is the only one that does 4cell to my knowledge.

Ok so I started using the DynaPulse last night

I got a used pack and charged it 3144Mah accdg to my charger. Wait to cool off and connected to Dynapulse.

Here is what I got:
Time:347.85
Voltage: 5.87
Capacity: 2704MAh
Resistance: 64.5 mohms

Can someone help me decipher this readings? Do I charge the pack and use the DynaPulse again?

natskiboy- As most have already stated, the Smart Tray and the Dyna Pulse perform different functions. Yes, you could 'bench' cycle again with the Dyna Pulse...you should start to see an improvement in the data displayed after each cycle.

Time: runtime...higher=more track time
Voltage: overall voltage of pack....higher the number=more 'punch'
Capacity: ability to hold mah/charge
Resistance: internal resistance (IR) of pack...this is number that the Dyna Pulse can lower; the lower the IR, the more 'punch'/higher the voltage.

I highly doubt Trinity's ripoff of the spintec is made in America. Yes, it is cheaper but they don't have to recoup any R and D costs like spintec

XingXing, what exactly do you have against Spintec, that's all you seem to post about lately. If you don't think the Spintec model works, then why do you support the Dynapulse? They're the same thing, lol.

Some people...
